  • It is used for a number of its customer Institutions (Harvard,Upenn,BMC) to administer retirement plan remittances for their Defined contribution pension plans.
  • The EAS system manages remittances not for only TIAA CREF but also for other retirement carriers that the Institution works like – Fidelity,Vanguard etc.EAS system also offers a variety of administrative services consolidation the salary reduction/enrollment process, contribution/remittance functions, monitoring of compliance limits ,retirement plan statements, Reporting for consolidated retirements.This Client product/ tool is also responsible for processing and transmitting weekly/monthly/annual files or reports in various format.Each of the EAS system is customized for Institutions.
  • TIAA's (client) retirement business unit is heavily leveraging this tool to manage their US business and lot of customization is being built around the system.

  • Project Description MVAS is an application that is used to administer the retirement plans of employees of various institutions.
  • Retirement plans refer to, the plans that the employee can choose to pay monthly premium every month as their contribution, apart from the institutions’ contribution.
  • Envisage is a third party vendor, who has developed the front end for MVAS application.
  • TIAA CREF is integrated with Envisage for MVAS service.
  • It is deployed on TIAA CREF server.
  • TIAA CREF plays a dual role as a third party vendor for the institution as well as an Insurance Provider for MVAS.
  • Caltech, LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District), Country of ORANGE etc., are the example for Institutions.
  • TIAA CREF, Vanguard, fidelity etc., are the examples for Investment providers.
  • MVAS is an advanced version of EAS, where the code for all the institutions would be common, unlike EAS, where each institution has a separate source code.
  • Initially to setup the institutional employees to the MVAS system, the administrator will send the employees personal information in SEED file via FTP.
  • Now all the employees’ details will be available in MVAS.
  • Employees are provided with an option to opt for the supplemental plan from Investment provider via MVAS-Employee application.
  • If the employee chooses a plan for contribution then that details are sent to MVAS system.
  • Institution will send payroll details to MVAS before the salary date as a file named CR file.
  • MVAS system will process the contribution details on the salary and send the feedback file to Institution.
  • An employee may enroll himself/herself to any of the listed plans.
  • This is termed as Election/Enrollment.
