I am graduate from BITS, Pilani (Rajasthan) in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. I joined BARC Training School in 1985 and received prestigious Dr. Homi Bhabha Award for achieving 1st rank in BARC 29th Batch In-Plant Training.
After training i joined Instrumentation Section of Kakrapar Atomic Power Station in 1986 and was involved in erection & commissioning of Flux monitoring system, Reactor Regulation & Protection Systems and Boiler Level & Pressure Control Systems. In Year-2000, i took over as Senior Maintenance Engineer (Instrumentation) and in Year-2008-09 lead the C&I related work during the En-Mass Coolant Channel Replacement (EMCCR) work of Unit-1 and the challenging tasks of replacement of Logic Relay Panels, Installation and commissioning of Safety Related Programmable Digital Comparator System (PDCS) and up gradation of several critical components were completed. I received the NPCIL Special Contribution Award for the year 2011, for significant contribution in stabilizing and improving the performance of KAPS Control & Instrumentation Systems.
In the year 2012, I was promoted as Technical Services Superintendent (TSS) of the Station and as TSS, KAPS completed the challenging tasks of safety analysis of the Station successfully.
In Year-2014 I was promoted as Chief Superintendent KAPP-3&4, which is the First totally indigenous 2x700 MWe NPP. In KAPP-3&4 I initiated the setting up of Operation & Maintenance Team and getting the regulatory approval of all commissioning procedures, operator licensing procedure and Technical Specification for plant operation.
I was designated as Outstanding Scientist in the year-2016 and was assigned the responsibility of Station Director, KAPS-1&2 in the year 2018. At KAPS-1&2 i was on the forefront and guiding force behind Herculean tasks of simultaneous EMCCR of both the Units of KAPS-1&2. The EMCCR of both the units was completed successfully and both the Units were connected to grid 3 months ahead of the planned schedule.
I have vast experience and expertise in the field of Nuclear Power Plant Operation & Maintenance and in December 2020 I was promoted to the post of Site Director, Tarapur Maharashtra Site (TMS). After joining Tarapur Maharashtra Site in Jan’2021, i worked extensively to stream line administrative processes and with intense dialogue with District Administration the long pending issue of recruitment in the “Group B and C” category of workmen was resolved and at TMS nearly after a decade the departmental recruitment of staff was successfully done. At TMS on technical front i took the lead to start the work for restart of TAPS-1&2 (The oldest operating BWR reactor in the world) and extending the reactor life for next ten years by replacing the Class-1 pipe line with IGSCC resistant 316LN low-carbon, nitrogen-enhanced version of Type 316 molybdenum-bearing austenitic stainless-steel material. The work is on and the Unite are expected to be back on line by May-June-2025. With this the TAPS Units will be the only Units of its kind still operating in the world.
On 1st June ‘2022 i was appointed as Director (Operations) and was inducted in the Board of NPCIL and was responsible for complete operating fleet on NPCIL. In Nov’2022 i was promoted as Distinguished Scientist. In December’2024, on attaining the age of superannuation I laid down my office.
