Migrating Analytical Platform to Azure Cloud

  • Playing the ETL Architect and Program manager role in this program to migrate the On Prem Analytical Platform to Azure Cloud.
  • As part of this migration program we are migrating 40+ analytical dashboards built in Pentaho/Greenplum technologies to ADF/Azure Synapse/PowerBI stack in Azure Cloud.
  • Have deep understanding in Azure Data Engineering tools like Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.
  • Also have exposure to Azure Data bricks, Azure SQL server, Azure Data lake and Azure Key vault Services.

Meta Data Based Ingestion Framework

  • Played ETL Architect role in building an ETL framework which automatically created dynamic ETL mappings based on the business rules provided.
  • Business rules were written in Collibra tool which was read by the ETL tool Pentaho Data Integrator to generate the dynamic code using its Meta data Ingestion capabilities.
  • Framework supported 1 to 1 table load(Incremental/truncate load) and additionally it supported transformations like Concatenate, CASE, Trim, Lower/Upper, Sub Queries, Aggregate Functions etc.
  • New tables can be on boarded with zero development effort

ETL Code Migration From Informatica to Pentaho

  • Learned and Reverse Engineered the code written in Informatica PC
  • Re wrote the entire ETL code into an extensible Frame work based code using Pentaho Data Integration.
  • ELT server environment was setup in AWS cloud with MYSQL DB as backend.
  • Customer who belonged to Travel and Hospitality Domain was owning the backend database which holds the Hotel room availability details across the world. Using Pentaho ETL we had read data from variety of sources like REST API's, Databases, different file formats like CSV, JSON, XML etc
  • We created the framework in such a way that we can easily on board a new hotel feed details with very minimal efforts.

On Prem Analytical Platform Setup

  • The major aim of the project was to create a consolidated one Analytical Platform for all sort of reporting needs within an organization.
  • Migrated more than 40+ application to Pentaho/Greenplum stack from various reporting platforms.
  • Created Reusable frameworks for ETL(Config table based 1 to 1 Stage table load) and Reporting Layers(Customized Dashboarding framework which supported rich visualization using Fusion charts).
