Academic Project in M.E:
The project “Detecting Malicious URLs Via a Keyword Based Convolutional Gated Recurrent Unit Neural Network” is completely coded using Python in the Jupyter Notebook environment.Packages such as pandas,keras,numpy, seaborn, matplotlib and sklearn are imported for using its various functionalities
Have created a dataset from the web that has URLs of various websites that may be either legitimate or malign
Data preprocessing is done initially to minimize the noise from the raw data
A data frame is created with domain names and addresses
Feature extraction on the URLis performed based on 30 features such as long_url, having_@_symbol, redirection_//_symbol, domain_registrationlength, age_of_domain,pop up window,etc
A statistical calculation of mean, variance and standard deviationis performed on the extracted features and is displayed as heatmap highlighting the features of URL with high statistical attributes.This helps in selecting vital 22 features that could possibly converge to a malicious URL attribute.Monte Carlo algorithm is employed on the accumulated dataframe for performing random sampling
We then simulate the neural network with 22 input layers,3 hidden layers and 1 output layer for which the Sigmoid activation function is selected.The NN model is trained with sequential feed forward and back propagation setting the learning rate as 0.1
Stochastic gradient decent is performed to choose the optimal value for weights and bias for whichthe global minima of error will be attained
The model is finally compiled using Adam optimizer and the performance metrics hence found like F1 score,Precison and Accuracy proved to be far better than the previous techniques such SVM and LR employedfor the same problem

The project titled “Preventing mobile software cracking using CAPTCHA” is developed based on an IEEE base paper is executed in J2EE and J2ME platforms
The user intruding the web browser through his mobile will be prompted with a CAPTCHA-Completely Automated Public Turing test which looks like a distorted text that can be deciphered by a human
CAPTCHA is designed and generated based on various hand drawn images at the back end using TOMCAT server and is received at the front end mobile device
It permits the user only when the fed input from the user matches the linked text of the captcha
This helps in avoiding anonymous spam or bot intrusion
