Projects and Innovation

  • HT Cable fault pin pointing Robot:-Automates underground cable fault detection, reducing the need for engineers to walk along cable routes, especially in high-traffic areas. It uses magnetic and acoustic sensors to detect faults, an Arduino microcontroller for processing, and wireless communication (RF/Bluetooth) to transmit fault data remotely.
  • Neon Tester for Voltage Detection in Touchproof Termination:- Neon testers are ineffective for voltage detection in touchproof terminations due to insulation barriers that prevent direct contact and weaken electric field detection. This can lead to inconsistent readings or failure to detect voltage. As a result, alternative solutions like magnetic field-based voltage detectors or non-contact sensors are recommended for reliable voltage detection in touchproof systems.
  • Real Time Monitoring of Sheath Current EHV Cable - The in-house sheath current monitoring unit for EHV cables is designed to enhance system reliability by continuously monitoring sheath current levels. It consists of a current transformer, SETEC meter, and SCADA integration, ensuring real-time data collection and analysis. If the sheath current exceeds 20% of the line current, the system triggers an alarm, allowing for immediate corrective action to prevent overheating, insulation damage, or potential failures. This proactive approach helps improve the longevity and safety of the cable network.
  • Created Power App for Daily Cable Fault Report- Power Apps enables engineers to log cable faults and update their statuses (e.g., Pending, In Progress, Resolved) in a structured format, storing the data in Excel, SharePoint. This ensures centralized and real-time tracking of faults. Power Automate then automates the reporting process by running a scheduled cloud flow, retrieving fault data from the selected data source, formatting it into a structured email, and sending it to relevant stakeholders daily. This eliminates manual reporting efforts, ensures timely updates, and improves fault management efficiency.
  • Created Power BI for Monthly Cable Fault Analysis - To analyze cable fault trends over time, fault records should be structured with key details such as date, location, fault type, and status, stored in Excel, SharePoint, or Dataverse. By adding "Year" and "Month" columns, trends can be effectively tracked. Power BI can then be used to visualize these trends with year-wise line charts, month-wise bar charts, and fault type distributions, providing insights into recurring issues. Additionally, Power Automate can generate and send automated monthly reports summarizing fault data, ensuring stakeholders stay informed about ongoing trends without manual intervention.
