PHARMACEUTICS, DEVELOPMENT AND NOVEL CHARACTERIZATION OFNANOLIPOSOMES FOR ATORVASTATIN:

  • The present investigation was commenced with the objective of enhancing the bioavailability of Atorvastatin (AVT), a HMG CoA reductase inhibitor through the preparation of liposomes.
  • AVT liposomes were prepared using excipients such as naturally derived phospholipids soya lecithin (Phosphotidyl ethanolamine), Fluidity and stability modulator cholesterol and organic solvent n- butanol to assure a homogeneous mixture of lipids, Hydrophilic vehicle pH 7.4 buffer.
  • The liposomal formulation was prepared by Freeze thaw and Reverse phase evaporation techniques.
  • The prepared formulations were evaluated for microscopy, % drug entrapment efficiency, drug and excipients compatibility studies, In vitro drug release parameters.
  • Among all the prepared formulations, formulation F4 prepared by reverse phase evaporation with lecithin: Cholesterol ratio 1:1 ,found to be 86.76+ or - 1.001
