  • Food waste management application

Food security and waste: Global food security is a major concern, with food waste being a significant issue, especially in India, where individuals waste 50 kg of food annually (INR 92,000 crores)

Goal: The system aims to redistribute surplus food to those in need, reducing food waste

Solution idea: developed a pilot application to reduce food waste by connecting excess food providers, such as restaurants and individuals, with NGOs in need

App functionality: Users log food details (type, quantity, image, preparation date) for excess food available

Requisition system: NGOs send food requests, and delivery partners pick up the food, and delivery partners are compensated nominally by NGOs or individuals for food pickup

  • Automatic vehicle license plate recognition

Problem: Develop a dashboard for state authorities to view vehicle penalties, we created a webpage using optical character recognition (OCR) with Tesseract for accurate license plate character recognition, and it generates a challan based on traffic rule violations

Penalty points: The system assigns penalty points according to the specific rules violated

Purpose: improve accuracy and efficiency in vehicle penalty management

Webpage interface: designed a simple user interface as a proof of concept

Outcome: a functional tool to automate and streamline vehicle violation processing
