RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review and implement approved Project Specifications, Coating Procedures, ITP, Method Statements, Paint Manufacturer's TDS and MSDS.
• Verify incoming coating materials, including paint type, batch number, shelf life, color, mixing ratio and storage conditions, against approved requirements.
• Inspect substrate condition prior to blasting, including removal of oil, grease, rust, mill scale, salts, dust and other contaminants.
• Check surface cleanliness, dust contamination, soluble salt contamination and environmental conditions before and during coating application.
• Monitor and record ambient temperature, steel/substrate temperature, relative humidity and dew point, ensuring application conditions to meet the requirements.
• Verify correct mixing, thinning, induction time, pot life, recoat interval and application technique.
• Measure and verify WFT and DFT for individual coats and complete coating systems.
• Verify coating thickness in accordance with the approved specification.
• Inspect each coating layer for runs, sags, pinholes, holidays, blistering, cracking, dry spray, overspray, poor adhesion and other coating defects.
• Verify required curing time and recoat intervals between primer, intermediate and topcoat.
• Perform or coordinate holiday detection, adhesion testing, DFT measurement and other coating tests as per project specification.
• Verify stripe coating of edges, welds, corners, bolts, difficult-to-coat areas and weld seams where specified.
• Verify repair of damaged or rejected coating areas and conduct re-inspection after corrective action.
• Raise NCRs, inspection observations and punch-list items for non-conforming coating work and follow up their closure.
• Maintain complete inspection records, including surface preparation reports, environmental readings, blasting reports, paint batch records, WFT/DFT reports, holiday/adhesion test reports and final inspection reports.
• Verify calibration and suitability of all coating inspection instruments
