  • Maintaining the Capital Adequacy Ratio for Nomura by acting as a liaison with agent banks.
  • Involved in Funding / Adjusting of the Traders’ Books on a daily basis in order to balance the Books involved by taking into consideration the Capital introduced for that Book initially, trading activity done for every day and the previous days’ balances. If there are any unknown balances in any of the previous days, then the same are investigated.
  • Accountable for: Monitoring if there are any surplus funds with the agent banks and accordingly having them churned out for other banks in the form of short term loans. Vice versa, if there is shortage of minimum funds, advising the agent bank to accordingly request for an overdraft.
  • Monitoring the Swapswire queues i.e. Not Picked, Pending, Done & Released Queues and accordingly informing the relevant Traders and the Sales Support Team to either pick up / affirm / release the trades.
  • Involved in monitoring: Investment Management – entails, regularly liaising with Agent banks of different locations to check if there are surplus funds in the accounts and accordingly with the consent of the Front office having those funds churned out as a short term investment to other banks or by long term investments like investing into US Treasury Bonds.
  • Liquidity Management – If there is any deficit of funds from a minimum threshold, having the agent bank to request for an overdraft.
  • Asset-Liability Management – Checking the PV and forecasted PV of any and every portfolio or security and accordingly deciding with Front office, if the swap on the security needs to be unwound.
  • Monitoring all through the day to understand if any trades are failing in the Flow Process.
  • Monitoring of Trades for their PV; basically to monitor if there are any Trades with unusual PV being traded for that day, if yes, checking the same with the Traders as part of the Front Office Supervision.
  • Monitoring if any trades are booked to a Dummy account or a Block account for that Trading Day, if yes, getting the Sales Support to have the Trade allocated by EOD.
  • Monitoring of Internal Trades booked across Books to check if any fields are not matching with each other, for this, proposed a report to have this automated in the process and since then this report is being tracked on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for resolving: Settlement Team’s queries for any Settlement differences AND Rates Chasing Team’s and Affirmation teams’ queries with the Client and then having them resolved.
  • Under cash management, queries raised by the Internal Audit team that may be raised to determine adherence on internal and regulatory policies.

  • Handling a team comprising of 9 members which looks after global activities of EMEA Calculation Agency and also the rate resets for EQ, FX and IR trades.
  • On a daily basis, the team derives the rates i.e. for EQ, FX and IR from Bloomberg and Reuters and applies them on the respective trades for a particular reset date.
  • The team also looks after the Calc agency process wherein different Calc agency notices are being sent to the Client on the notes that are either issued by Nomura or for trades where Nomura is the Calculation agent.

CAREER HIGHLIGHTS

  • StateStreet: Eliminated the dependency of the Onshore team and have created expertise in the India Operations team to be one Global team. This was achieved through Trainings and Knowledge transfers.
  • Created a Risk Dashboard that highlights the live status of the trades in real time basis. This dashboard highlights trades nearing currency cut offs, trades that are pending for settlement, trades that would settle NET or GROSS etc.
  • Eliminated the risk of IDD or emails being deleted or lost by proposing an idea for a system called Inquiry Query Management where not only the emails are tracked in a better way but also their response timings.
  • Nomura: In Back office, did successfully set up the Rates Chasing desk. Clients ramped up with a view to own the complete process within the India Team and the process going live in 1½ months time.
  • Within Middle office, pivotal in automating the process of Internal Trades booked across Books to check if any fields are not matching with each other.
  • Eclerx (latest stint): On the basis of Client’s requirement and from a BCP standpoint, successfully completed the setting up of the Equity Settlements Mumbai desk in a span of 6 months. This includes from recruiting new staff, their onboarding and training and the process going live.
  • As part of the process requirement, any and every dispute greater USD 2000 equivalent had to be reported to the regulators. Successful in onboarding the regulators like SEC, EMIR and MAS.
  • Previously, Funding team used to approve every cashflow that was settled by the settlements team. For the process of smooth settlement, gave an idea to have funding automated for trades having settlement upto USD 50K value. i.e. trades having settlement of value upto USD 50K, will be automatically funded by the system itself.
  • Eclerx (previous stint): Successfully completed the migration of the Interest Rates Drafting process for Lehman Brothers in 5 months when given a target of 6 months for the process to be completely owned by the India Team. The process sign off was received by the end of 5th month.
  • Due to the successful migration, was bestowed upon with the responsibility of migration of Interest Rates Drafting process for Merrill Lynch.
