Summary

I identify myself as a Serial Entrepreneur and a former Corporate Executive with 18+ years of experience. Working since my college days, and having dabbled across varied job roles, be it a freelance tutor, or an AIESEC intern in my graduation years, to a Banking Executive or an E-Commerce retailer, I have firmly come to believe that every job within or as a whole, lets you be an Entrepreneur, in its own right. Essentially, it's about realising our ownership and stake in the process, by way of work hours, ideation and effort put in while building lasting relationships at the work floor, whether or not equity owned. Ultimately, it's the former that supersedes and eventually enables the latter, crafting a better manager and thus leader, out of us.

  • Having started with just one, managed and built a business hosting multiple AirBnBs across varied stay formats from Entire Apartments, to Home-stays and even a Hostel
  • Handled high-pressure situations with composure, which were never experienced in a corporate set-up or retail entrepreneurship. Effectively managing large parties aka that of 30+ guests on a booking for 2, or even many unexpected, unimagined 'events'.
  • Constantly exposed to a colorful melange in human amalgamation, culturally and demographically, having hosted over 5000 guests from almost 100 countries
  • Been an AirBnB Super-Host with an average rating of over 4.7/5, across 750+ Reviews
  • Have been an active part of the AirBnB Community playing a key role across multiple Community Initiatives driving Social Impact, and batting for change across varied Issues from Cleanliness to Sanitation to Food Donation
  • Have been one of the select few Hosts invited to be a part of multiple Strategy Meet-ups and Round-table discussions alongside AirBnB Country Heads and Regional Director(s) APAC at the India Office

Venture Timeline: 2012

  • Started with a Meager upfront Investment of all I had, approximately INR 40,OOO ($500)

2013

  • Concluded the First Financial Quarter with 3 Months of Sales totaling around INR 600,000 ($ 7,500), performing all the tasks from Invoicing to Procurement to Packaging, etc by myself
  • Developed strong partnerships with other businesses to allow for collaboration and more significant opportunities for growth.
  • Forayed into Multi Channel Selling while strengthening the entity into a 7 Member Team

2014

  • Moved into our First Office & leased in our First Warehouse
  • Established a successful business by identifying market needs and developing innovative solutions.
  • Present across almost all Sales Channels from Web to TV Commerce to Print selling in-house brands as well as International Labels being the Exclusive Online Distributors for Crocs India
  • Team size grew to 24 by year end

2015

  • Touched almost $1 Million in Sales, average daily dispatch clocking 1500+ units across varied platforms viz e-commerce, TV-Commerce, print, etc
  • Completed a TV Commerce order of 100,000+ units within a 30 30-day deadline in addition to 120,000+ Units of Fashion Accessories & Footwear for HomeShop18, all of which was procured, manufactured, collated, packed, dispatched, QC checked & in-warded unto their multiple warehouses within stipulated deadlines
  • Team size grew to 35

2016

  • Post a certain 'Brand Day' Failure to which we committed over 70% of our capital in order to source+manufacture+procure 30,000+ units, the Company financials & systems crashed, so did the Sales
  • Audits exposed internal frauds & mass pilferage leading to heavy losses

2017 onwards

  • Focused on Debt re-structuring, eventual pay-ups, and settlements in the aftermath of the losses
  • Functioning on the Lean yet Keen Model

  • Joined as the Group COO, managing and setting up Operations for the Firm and its invested companies.
  • Traveled within a week of joining in, to supervise a Joint Collaboration with the Birla Science Center, Hyderabad, a project that was stalled for almost a year; ensured its completion and subsequent execution in less than a week.
  • Conducted daily mapping of Group Companies and their operations, and since it was in stealth mode, even their setting up from scratch.
  • Recruitment of new Full Time Employees, Part Timers, Freelance Drone Pilots in order to build a Team that could not just steady the invested in companies, but be a part of the larger Cohesive Group Vision.
  • Left early due to irregularities in Pay Remittance and disagreements over future Company Ownership/ESOPs.

At 23, I co-founded Fidato.in with my Director-Sales at the previous organisation. From managing & executing packaging, by night, to acquiring buyers & customers, followed by product shoots, cataloging, and subsequent product sampling for the designs finalised, by the day, it was an action-packed tenure backpacking Years' worth of experience & learning into a few months.


Key Highlights -:

  • Approaching, strengthening and building relationship with upcoming, established and industry leaders of the time, viz Groupon India, Yebhi.com, Jabong, Myntra etc
  • Handling A to Z of the product journey from procuring orders for specific designs, costing, factory mapping, production to logistics, packaging, quality & quantity checks and dispatch + In-warding
  • Gauging an early understanding of the Revenue-Profit Model as also a quintessential Product-Costing-Sale understanding, pivotal to building a sturdy Retail Business

  • Constantly the 'Best Business Development Manager' across the company's 9 Pan India offices throughout my tenure, at the firm.
  • Achieved an unprecedented 9,900+ transactions, as against a Target of 500, for the CEO's Crucial 'One Team One Dream' campaign, which was to play a major role in the next round of Funding.
  • Was the first one to get Subway India on any e-commerce platform, it played a major role in boosting the traffic & membership sign-ups on the Website.
  • The first one to get Café Coffee Day on board across any platform in the country, based on a Revenue sharing Model.
  • Was behind getting the Crocs Basics range of footwear onboard, another first at the time.
  • Sealed the Corporate Alliance between Café Coffee Day and dealsandyou.com, named CCDNY, it gave the Website national offline presence through POS and Voucher communication in CCD Cafes all across the country.

  • Maintained an Excellent (E) All India rating almost every month.
  • Consistently awarded for being one of the Top Performers across the country
  • First one to carry out a Corporate Tie-Up in an organisation with no past relationship with Deutsche Bank AG, with the likes of Capital IQ, Bain & Co., KPMG
  • Part of the Deutsche Bank Team acquired by IndusInd Bank Ltd and thus, in the process. played a major role in handling the cross over, supervising past client issues & various account transfers, even closures, so as to ensure a smooth transition.
  • As part of the same program, was even deployed as a Trainer, training the new set-up on Product Policies and revised pitches, new service pricing and in-transition customer handling, amidst other skill sets, in line with the new merged set-up's refreshed guidelines and policies.
