Project - IBM US PAYROLL SQUAD

• The National Payroll Services' mission is to provide efficient, accurate and timely payroll payments to IBM US employees
• Payroll's core services include: The recording, calculation, printing and distribution of employee paychecks and statements.
• The administration of voluntary and involuntary deduction activity (e.g 401(k), ESPP, credit union, bonds, garnishments etc.).
• The calculation, withholding, depositing, and reporting of payroll tax liabilities. The recording of financial data into IBM's Accounting and Cash Management information systems.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Developed, maintained, and enhanced mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, and CICS, Mainframe C language (C37) ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices
• Worked on the Kyndryl project, to separate the IBM functionalities from the Kyndryl processes
• This had a lot of changes in the Batch flow, BFC Tables and online processes
• It involved a major work for all the payroll online processes
• Done major coding work for Tax profiles and US Payroll salary batches creation in C language, which runs in Mainframe
• Involved in major coding (both Cobol and C language, with DB2) for PYWS (Prior Year Wage Sourcing) project
• All the programs were successfully deployed to Production
• Took part in DR (Disaster recovery) activities and solved abends in the backup system
• Worked in almost all the HR related data in the CICS screens, these tesseract screens dealt with the Earnings, Deductions and Taxes data of the employee
• Collaborated with business analysts and stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications
• Designed and implemented efficient and scalable solutions to meet business needs and improve system performance (example Tables archival solutions)
• Conducted code reviews and provided guidance to junior developers to ensure code quality and maintainability
• Troubleshooted and resolved complex technical issues, ensuring minimal impact on production systems
• Fixed a major issue in fix a major issue in the Payroll tax jobs - ADP jobs
• Participated in system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT), and production deployments, ensuring smooth and successful project delivery
• Most of the code written from scratch ran fine in Production with few or zero defects.

Project - APMM - A.P. MOLLER MAERSK

• This Project intended for supporting, maintaining, and enhancing the applications RKEM (Equipment management), RKCM (Cost management) and other small applications in Maersk line like GTTS (Vessel scheduling information), RKST & RKTS (standard tables), RKDC (Dangerous cargo), RKCL (Claims management)
• RKEM application involves the functionalities like containers (equipment) tracking, move management and reporting
• RKCM involves cost calculation of the bills generated for shipments, validating cost data and reporting.

Roles and Responsibilites:

• Developed and maintained mainframe applications using PL1, JCL, DB2, and CICS, meeting project deadlines and quality standards.
• Participated in system analysis, design, and code reviews, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical requirements.
• Provided production support, troubleshooting issues, and implementing fixes to ensure system stability and reliability. Worked on giving permanent fixes for most of the Production abends.
• Documented technical specifications, user manuals, and operational procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and training.
• Have worked on critical issues in the RKCM application (Cost calculation module) like Missing cost errors, location cost & Freight tax errors etc. and provided fix for the same. Identified recurrent errors in application & solved them.
• Worked in DB2 tasks like – Partition rotation for partitioned tables. This was useful in re-using older parts & saving storage in Database. Implemented some measures to reduce alerts in MQ’s (due to overflow & pile-up of messages in MQ)
• Designed and developed a new pop-up CICS screen in RKEM application, which made it easy to query the screen. Also did major analysis work on IMS screens.
• Collaborated with cross-functional teams to integrate mainframe applications with other systems and platforms.
