As a clinical observer, my duties and responsibilities include

• Attending the ward round with consultants and junior doctors, multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, and interacting with patients on consultant orders.
• Learning the use of systems like Nerve Centre (electronic prescribing and medicine administration), ICE being followed in the Bedford Hospital NHS Trust.
• Presenting the patients to the consultant after preparing the case.
• Observing different diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures.
• Observing colleagues during important discussions with patients and relatives, including discussions about the ceiling of care and breaking bad news.
• Getting familiar with how to talk with Next of Kin (NOK) on the telephone.
• Observing and getting familiar with the different NHS systems in place, and the referral pathways in place.

• Acknowledging and holistically treating the mental and physical health burdens of COVID-19 at all levels of the health system
• Effectively utilizing Non Invasive ventilation strategies including BiPAP and CPAP to support patients in respiratory distress.
• Counseled and educated patients on preventative health care measures, medications, treatments, and lifestyle changes.
• Collaborated with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
• Worked closely with EMS personnel regarding transport decisions for critical patients requiring transfer from one facility to another.
