As a civil engineer, I have always been fascinated by the intersection of technology and infrastructure. While working on various projects, I consistently found myself drawn to the data analysis and problem- solving aspects of my work.

I realised that my true passion lies in using data to drive decision-making and improve outcomes. This realisation led me to pursue the ExPG in Data Science program at IIIT-Bangalore hope to build upon my engineering skills and develop the technical expertise necessary to become a data-driven problem solver.

Concrete strength Prediction using statsmodel

  • Objective: To predict compressive strength of concrete based on its ingredients (cement, blast furnace slag, fly ash, water, superplasticizer, coarse aggregate, and fine aggregate).
  • Data: The project uses a dataset of 1030 records of concrete ingredients and compressive strength available on Kaggle.
  • Methodology: Multiple linear regression model is fit using the Statsmodel library in Python to analyze the relationship between predictors (ingredients) and target (compressive strength). Model evaluation is done using R-squared and mean absolute error.
  • Results & Conclusion: The regression model shows good fit The model provides a useful tool for concrete engineers to predict concrete strength based on ingredients.


 

mushroom classification using decision tree

  • The project uses a decision tree algorithm to classify mushrooms as edible or poisonous.
  • The dataset used has 8124 instances of mushrooms with 22 attributes, taken from Kaggle.
  • The decision tree is implemented using Python and the scikit-learn library. Model accuracy will be evaluated using precision, recall, and F1-score.
  • The project's goal is to build a model for mushroom hunters to determine the safety of mushrooms and demonstrate the effectiveness of decision trees in classification problems.
