Work History

Process Engineer

MRF TYRES
Goa
11.2020 - Current
  • Presently serving as the technical in charge of extrusion department
  • Preparing the operational specifications in extrusion department that guide the production process
  • Designing of new dies for extrusion based on the new profile received from Corporate technical, especially for new projects
  • Conducting the trials and implementing new sizes in regular production
  • Concentrated on enhancing productivity through activities primarily centered on optimizing processes. Example: removing the pull type dies from production, reducing the online shrinkage of the extrudate by controlling the dancer positions and conveyor speeds
  • Consistently overseeing product temperature at different stages, with a primary focus on extrusion and booking temperatures in extrusion process, utilizing pyrometers and infrared guns and studying the temperature profiles
  • Forecasting the properties of diverse rubber varieties involved in tire manufacturing and addressing potential processing defects
  • Examining the defect analysis of over 6000 truck bias tires daily and ensuring that the percentage of first-quality tires remains consistently above 95%.
  • Evaluating the feasibility of new projects through a combination of corporate technical insight and on-the-ground plant-level experience and recommends the necessary changes required in the design review.
  • Reporting near-miss incidents to ensure the safety of all individuals within the plant.
  • Worked in textile lab for initial 6 months at MRF – learned some important fabric tests such as tensile strength, thermal shrinkage, moisture content, adhesion

Accomplishments

  • Achieved promotion to Executive Engineer (MB2 grade) in just 1.5 years of service, progressing from the role of Junior Executive Engineer.
  • Successfully completed three-layer tread projects with a dual tuber and a simplex cold feed extruder by hot assembly of top cap and mid cap-base. Sizes- 10.00-20SLG001N16CMCB and 12.00-24MRK+N20-CMCB, both tyres are introduced for improving the tyre life and becomes the favorites of the customers
  • Implemented mill bank height sensors in the surge/warmup mills of all dual tubers to sustain rubber quality by preventing over-milling of stocks, consequently enhancing tire lifespan.
  • Introduced an enhanced gauge sidewall profile for the 10.00-20SM99N16 size to address Shoulder Carcass Break (SCB) defects in the field, leading to a decrease in the defect percentage from 6% to under 2%.
  • Stabilized the newly recommended tower base profile for the 10.00-20SM99N16 size across all three dual tubers through multiple trials initiated by Corporate Technical. This effort aimed to diminish heat buildup in the shoulder region of tyres, consequently extending the lifespan of each tire by an additional 20,000 kilometers.
  • Regularly introducing new push type dies for large volume sizes and maintains the yield and stability of the product, thus the productivity increases by an average of 25%
  • Sizes that do not conform to the PC layout are rectified, saves the additional rubber per tyre and leading to cost savings of over 2 crores in the last financial year
