My motto is, hardwork and smartwork should go hand in hand in today's scenario and I follow it to the T. I have 21 months rank experience as a 2nd mate on VLCC and Suezmax oil tankers. I am determined to remain and grow within the maritime industry and in turn my employer should prospect with my growth in my career. I hold a valid USA Visa(C1/D),valid SID. I am currently holding a 2nd mate FG CoC, GMDSS GOC, Advanced Level Oil DCE. I hold all valid STCW,2010 refresher courses. I have experience in both CoP and FRAMO pumping system. I am ready to take up the challenges of the off-shore industry after acquiring knowledge in the shipping industry by serving in the main fleet for more than a decade. I am a 2nd Officer with relevant maritime experience. Proficient in navigation, cargo handling and storage procedures, and safety protocol adherence. My strengths include strong leadership abilities, robust decision-making skills, and proficiency in risk management. Over the years I have come to realize that working onboard is team work hence I made myself efficient in crew coordination, ensuring safety measures and streamlining vessel operations in present as well as previous roles. Multitasking and efficiently completing a task gives me a boost to perform even better, everytime. Specialization in navigation and emergency response management has become part of my being after being a GMDSS officer onboard for almost all the ships that I have been on. I strive to a better version of myself than yesterday in aspects like leadership, communication, and adaptability, ensuring seamless operations on deck.
"Life itself is your teacher and you are in state of constant learning"- Bruce Lee
As a 2nd officer my primary job onboard a vessel is planning a safe passage between 2 or more ports pertaining to a voyage A passage plan in itself is a technical report which is very specific to a voyage With the advent of ECDIS such reports are not only on the paper but also in digital format on an ECDIS In 21 months as a 2nd mate I have acquired knowledge in doing that very efficiently
Onboard, my last company I was the assistant to the Safety Officer onboard who was the Chief Engineer/Chief Officer
Therefore I had to observe and report safety related matters to the concerned officer on daily basis On weekly basis I had to write the observations of that week and make it into a report
I was the in-charge of supervising garbage segregation and disposal 3rd Engineer had to report to me regarding incineration in engine room I kept record of all garbage, off-landed, incinerated, stored as well as disposed at sea
"Life itself is your teacher and you are in a state of constant learning"- Bruce Lee
I follow this quote by Bruce Lee when it comes to navigation as it is my primary job when on onboard therefore I strive the most to gain knowledge from my seniors and implement in my navigation to hone my navigational skills and I find myself fortunate enough to have sailed with seasoned sailors
My job as a 2nd officer made me a skilled organiser and which has got everything to do with my documentation technique when onboard Once onboard the first thing I do is make list of all stationery items, all medicines and narcotics onboard along with their expiry date, all publications and their expiry dates, etc As mentioned before I also maintain records related to garbage and their disposal as well as records of all repairs, services and various receipts of purchases made onboard
Not only as a 2nd mate but also as a seaman who has been out at sea for more than a decade the skill that I have acquired the most is analytical thinking In my opinion every seafarer can relate to it For that I am grateful enough to my previous employers as they made us go through various case studies of various incidents and accidents that have had happened in the industry which in turn helped me to be more cautious and analyze any situation, be it onboard or in day to day life
As a 2nd mate I have to do 8 hours of navigational watch as well as overtime to comply with my other job description Also when at port I have to do 12 hours of cargo related duty as well as prepare the vessel for departure and be properly rested to carry on duty in cargo control room In my 10 years in this profession I have got myself attuned to it Now I can implement this flexibility and adaptability in my day to day life I am ready to put in extra for any emergency and also complete the task that comes under my job profile
As a seafarer I have full faith on myself that I can effectively communicate any issue to my seniors and also assist my juniors in doing so In my present company my communication skills made me "onboard well-being coordinator" where I had to listen to the suggestions of fellow seafarers for better conditions onboard and inform the same to the company via the master
In today's demanding scenario effective multitasking is the key to optimum output I use the word "optimum output" as I prioritize my work so that I can effectively multitask and finish any assigned job in an effective manner leaving negligible scope for errors
In today's world computer skill is a necessity and should not be even considered as a skill at all but I consider this as my skill as I learnt many things which help me on my job onboard, which I had no clue before I joined shipping industry I have inculcated this skill over the period of time and now it helps me in record keeping, passage planning, documentation, etc
I believe organizational skills is ones ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals and develop systems for achieving those goals The aforementioned skills states my ability to do so
