Interview, hire, and train new sales associates. Responsible for sales staff schedules. Hold weekly sales meetings. Conduct ongoing sales training for staff: selling process, product knowledge, sales and finance offers, incentive contests, systems training, policies and procedures, introduction of new company initiatives. Set individual goals for each sales consultant across an array of performance metrics. Perform sales observations, coach to goals and to behavior expectations. Carry out corrective actions for missing minimum performance standards, attendance violations, disciplinary issues.


Responsible for driving store performance to meet budgeted goals: written/shipped volume, protection plans, bedding volume, delivery income, financing rate, margins, delivery efficiency, conversion, etc. Participate in weekly Teams calls with market leader and other sales managers to review and discuss performance.


General manager on duty responsibilities: Open and close store, count cash, work daily reporting, work with customer service reps, warehouse personnel, visual, and service techs, handle service issues with customers, handle facility issues and work with different contractors, conduct store audits with market leader, loss prevention manager, cleaning company supervisor. Maintain safety standards, OSHA compliance. Inspect showroom for safety and appearance standards, assure all POS materials are correct and updated. Manage customer flow, engage with customers and sales people to make sure customer experience meets expectations.

Work with customers on their home furnishing needs. Greet customers as they come in and qualify them. Get conversations started about what they need, ask probing questions, listen carefully to what they say, and start showing them what might be the solution to what they are working on. Make recommendations, uncover objections so they can be dealt with, refine the recommendations and close the sale. Utilize all the products and services we offer, delivery, financing, protection plans. Get quotes on customers that aren't closed and follow up with them.


Insure accuracy of all orders (color, configuration,size, quantity, address, phone #, etc) make sure the customer is fully aware of all delivery/pick up expectations, product availability issues, financing terms, warranty limitations, factory standards of product, measuring to make sure product will fit.


Exceed minimum expectations in all metrics and write profitable business.

Accomplishments

Was the sales manager selected to give a presentation to all the top salespeople in the Chicago market while at Value City. Also gave a presentation to all of the market's new hires. Both dealt with selling our service plan. Was also tapped to lead a meeting introducing our selling model to the rest of the sales managers in the Chicago market.


Several new sales managers were sent to train with me at the Merrillville store when they first started.
