  • Researched, created and piloted a reading program called Buckle Up and Read for Pleasure with the aim of making reading a lifelong habit, and making students independent readers capable of guiding their own comprehension in the academic year 2013-14. The program is based on the CAFE book written by Gail Boushey and Joan Moser.
  • Achieved an increase in reading comprehension scores from mid-year standardized assessment to end-year by 13%, and an increase in the habit of reading by 72%( according to a parent survey).
  • Monitored and provided continuous support for the expansion of the reading program in the academic year 2014-15; supported teachers in building libraries by shortlisting books for different age groups.
  • Developed resources and/or reviewed thematic units of study for the English curriculum for grades 1 and 2, and 5 through 8 for all Akanksha schools.
  • Supported teachers in 8 schools with the implementation of the curriculum through regular observation, feedback and training.
  • Created and/or reviewed rigorous standardized skill-based assessments for English and History for grades 1 through 7 for the mid-year and end-year assessment across the Akanksha network of schools.
  • Part of the core team that conceptualized, planned and implemented the yearly 10-day teacher training and induction at the beginning of each academic year for over 250 new and returning teachers.
