- Thorough history taking and assessment of the patient I take a complete history of the patient including presenting complain, past medical history and relevant information. Also, I perform all the relevant examination from head to toe to come to the correct diagnosis which help me to send all the required investigation to confirm my diagnosis and start the patient on adequate treatment.
- Perform clinical procedures Proficiently performed various clinical procedures, including Ascitic Tapping, Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) sampling, phlebotomy (blood collection), IV cannulation, urinary catheterization, and NG tube insertion. Ensured adherence to best practices and safety protocols during all procedures.
- Attend consultant rounds and multidisciplinary team meeting I attend the rounds with the consultant and explain to him about the condition of the patient. Listen attentively to the advice of the consultant and also ask questions if I have any doubts, to make sure that I have complete understanding of the situation. Furthermore, I attend the multidisciplinary team meetings and keenly listen to the discussion about the patient and what plan do all the consultant agree on. This is one of the most interesting part of my work as I gain a lot of knowledge from various of medicine at the same time.
- Talk to the patient's relative I have to daily talk with the relative and update them about the current condition of the patient. Also, I have to address the concerns of the relative. This part of my work tests my communication skills and I make sure I am very compassionate and empathetic while talking with the relative.
- Timely discharge of the patient After treating the patient and when fit to be discharged, I make sure that there is no delay in it. The discharge summary and discharge process is started quite sometime before the date of discharge in order to prevent any delay

- Patient Examination and Medical History Collection: Conducted thorough patient examinations, eliciting detailed medical histories to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. Used IT software programs to enhance clinical decision-making and ensure comprehensive patient file management.
- Preparing the patient for operation For elective operation, I had to make sure that relevant investigation have been done and reports are suitable for patient to be taken up for the operation. Fill up consents required for the operation, and also blood requisition forms to reserve blood products in the blood bank which will be required for the patient during or after the surgery. I would make sure that there is no unnecessary delay for the patient to undergo the operation.
- Manage Postoperative patients I have to receive patient after the operation in the Cardiothoracic ICU. I have to take a complete handover of the patient given by the anaesthesist and surgeon, who explain to me any significant events which took place during the surgery and if any special instructions should be followed. I keenly listen to it and accordingly manage the patient. Also, if any post operative complications, such as post operative bleeding, arrhythmia, sudden cardiac arrest, acute kidney injury etc. occurs, I have to start the management and inform the senior about it to ensure the welfare and safety of the patient.
- Performance of clinical procedures I have been doing routine ICU procedures such as Central venous catheter insertion, Intubation and ventilation, Haemodialysis line insertion, Arterial line insertion etc. Ensured adherence to best practices and safety protocols during all procedures.
- Preparing discharge summary After a successful recovery of the patient from the operation, it is my duty to make sure that the patient is timely discharged from the care of my consultant, which I do so by preparing the discharge summary well in advance and also intimate the nurse a day before to complete all the necessary work up of the patient, so that no delay happens. I personally explain to the patient all the discharge advice and also check his understanding to make sure that there is no confusion.
