I am a researcher with over 10 years of experience in designing, implementing and managing research projects related to climate change, sustainability, and livelihoods. I have expertise in fieldwork, data collection, analysis, and report writing. I have worked on projects funded by prestigious institutions like the University of California-Davis, The National Museum of Denmark, and Virginia Tech University. My skills include project management, team coordination, stakeholder engagement, and scientific communication. I am proficient in using software such as Kobo Toolbox and statistical analysis software like STATA. My work experience also involves collaborating with local governments, NGOs, and academic institutions.
Project Title: Workplace Mental Health project funded by the Welcome Foundation
I worked as a translator and graphic designer for the restoration project of heritage buildings from the Danish period in Serampore, which was undertaken by the National Museum of Denmark in 2016-22.
As a Data Manager, I oversaw the "Unravelling the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in West Bengal, India" project, which was funded by the International Water Management Institute. My responsibilities included managing two data entry teams, cleaning and organizing data, and conducting summary statistics work. This project was carried out in 2021.
Project Title: Cost Benefit Analysis of NCRMP-II Interventions for Amphan Cyclone in West Bengal
• Managed various tasks, including questionnaire formation, translation, Kobo App development, and logistics arrangement for the team working in the islands of Sundarbans.
• Collaborated with the project team to identify relevant questions and determine the best methods of data collection.
• Wrote reports, reviews, and summaries based on the gathered information to provide valuable contributions to the project.
As a consultant for the Socio-cultural survey of Serampore's Historical Town, I managed logistics for the field team, served as an interpreter for the National Museum team, translated interviews from the local language to English, and wrote a report. This project was funded by The National Museum of Denmark and completed within the designated timeframe.
Project Title: T2S (Transformation to sustainability): H2O
I provided consultancy services for a research study on Community Pool Resources in the islands of Sundarbans, led by VikasAnvesh Foundation and funded by Tata Trust. My responsibilities included managing logistics, conducting interviews with community members, local government officials, and Joint Forest Management Committee members. This project was carried out in 2019.
Project Title: Impacts of The Covid−19 Lockdown In A Remittance-Dependent Region.
As part of my role, I managed a team of interviewers who conducted phone-based interviews with 300 households in remote villages of the Indian Sundarbans. I also developed a Kobo App version of the questionnaire and managed the data collected during the project. Finally, I co-authored a peer-reviewed journal article based on the study's findings
As a project staff member for the India-Bangladesh cross-border project, "Shifting Grounds: Institutional Transformation, Enhancing Knowledge, and Capacity to Manage Groundwater Security in Peri-Urban Ganges Delta Systems," I worked with a consortium of partner institutions including Delft University of Technology, SaciWATERs, BUET, Both ENDS, The Researcher, and JJS, which was funded by The Dutch Research Council. My responsibilities included conducting Rapid Rural Appraisal in study locations, translating the questionnaire into the local language, leading the field team for data collection, managing data entry and cleaning, developing project brochures and literature, and organizing meetings with stakeholders, community members, and local government. In addition, I was responsible for organizing Negotiated Approach workshops with stakeholders.
As a Research Collaborator, I contributed to the Extent of Digital Inclusion in West Bengal project led by VikasAnvesh Foundation and funded by Tata Trusts. My responsibilities included designing the entire fieldwork, developing the methodology and questionnaire, analyzing the data, and writing the project report. Additionally, I co-authored the final report and presented the findings at a national-level workshop hosted by Tata Trust.
As a project coordinator, I was responsible for managing logistics, data management, data cleaning, summary statistics, and report development for a series of projects named Domestic Headload Study, Change in Consumption Basket, and HAPA: Dreaming with small pond. These projects were led by VikasAnvesh Foundation and funded by Tata Trusts.
Project Title: Arsenic Awareness and Mitigation Project
Worked as a Project Coordinator for the 'Socio Economic Study of Banana Farmers of West Bengal' project funded by the West Bengal State Horticulture Mission. As the coordinator, I managed the logistics of the field team in the Murshidabad and Nadia districts of West Bengal. My responsibilities included managing data entry, performing data cleaning, conducting summary statistics, and preparing the project report. The project was completed in 2017.
Project Title: Effects of Climate Change on Economic Participation in Sundarbans region, India.
This project was funded by researchers from the Agricultural & Resource Economics Department at the University of California-Davis (UC Davis), USA, during the period of 2016-17. In my role, I designed and implemented fieldwork in five administrative blocks of the Indian Sundarbans, led the field teams to train household members to record financial data in a Financial Diary, collected data, and performed data entry. Moreover, I collaborated with the local government to ensure smooth project operations for two months on a remote island of Sundarbans.
Managed the Existing Minor Irrigation Schemes study in West Bengal, funded by the World Bank and executed under the Water Resource and Investigation Department of the West Bengal Government. As a Project Coordinator, I was responsible for supervising the data collection and entry team, cleaning the data, and preparing summary statistics. This project was conducted between 2014 and 2015.
In 2014, I worked as a scout and data supervisor for the International Water Management Institute's (IWMI) study on the Impact of Changes in Groundwater Act on Electricity Use and Agricultural Production in West Bengal, India. My role involved collecting field data, supervising data collection and entry, and ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
I worked as a translator and transcriber for the "Assessing Migrants’ Health in Selected South Asian Countries (DFID sponsored)" study conducted by Population Council in 2014. My responsibilities included translating and transcribing audio-recorded interviews from Bengali to English.
I worked as a Scout and Data Manager in the Impact of Changes in Groundwater Act project, initiated by IWMI-IUCN in 93 villages in West Bengal, India, in 2013. My role involved managing fieldwork logistics, coordinating data collection efforts, ensuring data quality, and contributing to project reporting.
Worked as a Field Investigator for the Institute for Resource Analysis and Policy (IRAP), conducting a research study titled "The Factors Causing the Agrarian Crisis in India: A Study from Four Agro-ecological Regions in Four States" in 2013.
As a Bengali to English translator, I provided translation services for audio recordings in the "Adolescent Empowerment Project" study conducted by Population Council in collaboration with UNICEF in 2013.
I worked as a field investigator for the Comparative Study of Water Resource Management in the Coastal Zones of West Bengal and Bangladesh project conducted by IWMI in 2013. My role involved moderating Focused Group Discussions with community members in villages located in Sundarbans.
As an interviewer and translator, I contributed to the Socio-Cultural Survey of Serampore's Historical Town Centre, a project funded by the National Museum of Denmark between 2012 and 2013. In this role, I conducted interviews with local communities living in the slum, translated the interviews from the local language to English, and participated in report writing.
I served as a field investigator for IWMI in 2011-12 for ground-truthing the calculation of Boro paddy area in West Bengal, India using remote sensing images. My responsibilities included collecting GPS locations of summer paddy fields in seven districts of West Bengal, managing fieldwork data, and logistics during the project.
I was employed as a Data Manager for the Agricultural Water Management Solutions project conducted by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), International Development Enterprise (IDE), the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI), and Stockholm Environmental Institute (SEI), 2010.
As an Office Assistant at Divyayan Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Ramakrishna Mission Ashrama in Ranchi, Jharkhand, India from 2008 to 2010, my responsibilities included providing general assistance in administrative tasks, report writing, designing annual and monthly report booklets, and other literature published by the institution, as well as maintaining the website.
