Projects

Enhancement Of Boiling Heat Transfer By Periodic Forcing, 09/2014, 12/2015, The present study reports the heat transfer enhancement phenomenon in vertical boiling channel under forced perturbation in liquid inlet velocity and its direct numerical simulation (DNS) using FORTRAN codes. The simulation code used in this study was based on four-equation drift flux model. The effect of varying amplitude and frequency under forced perturbation in boiling channel was studied. It was observed that on amplitude variation, void fraction and total heat flux increase and the wall temperature decreases. On frequency variation, the total heat flux (THF) increases and the rise in liquid temperature takes place. Due to rise in liquid temperature under forced perturbation, the boiling regime mostly shifts to bulk boiling from subcooled boiling. In this study the optimal amplitude value and optimal frequency value of the forced perturbation in liquid inlet velocity, for heat transfer enhancement was obtained, and was seen to be 0.07 amplitude and 10Hz-frequency. Defluoridation Of Water Using Red Mud Blended Cement Mortar, 01/2013, 04/2014, Red Mud, a potential harmful waste from aluminum industries is utilized and restructured for the removal of fluoride ions from drinking water source.
