Duties include helping with everyday planning and running preshift. Working in the yard helping in any areas needed such as barge preventative maintenance on the equipment such as spot, winches, gangway, cables. As well as loading barges and deckhanding when needed. When on rail, I perform inspection on the locomotive daily and complete all upkeep needed such as oil, water, hydraulic oil, ect. Control chief remote control is normally used to run locomotives. I am also certified to run in manual if required. When in the control room, I make sure that the inbound trucks go to the correct bins out of the 16 grain bins at CGB facility. Also the control room operator does environmental inspections daily with 3 dust systems, making sure they are working properly. As well as loading rye and distillery corn trucks and runs dryer to dry any grain needing to be dried. I also work as a probe operator in which I am in charge of grading grain trucks that come in. Once the correct information is in the computer for the customer, the probe operator probes trucks and grades the product that was received. Preventative maintenance and upkeep is also performed on the probe and other equipment such as scales and aflatoxin tests to insure all test are in order. Hard car unloader duties performed are to get the cars flowing from top by poking the product with NPK. Inspections of NPK are performed daily and any upkeep or maintenance needed is completed.
