DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES (NICU)

• Maintain high standards of sterile technique in the unit
• Provide high standards of Nursing Care for the Patients
• Maintain Professional Standards in relation to ethic and confidentially
• Implements and monitors agreed procedures for improved patient care
• Update self in new ideas and methods when appropriate
• Responsible for departmental inventories
• Overseas the repair and replacement of defective equipments and reporting to the unit supervisor
• Administered medications and daily care to critical infants
• Fed, bathed and assessed newborns in the unit
• Educated parents on care of babies with various ailments and impairments

NICU NURSE

• Assessed term and pre-term babies
• Administered and assessed feeding orally and through OG/NG tubes
• Places and maintained NG/OG and G -tubes
• Administered medicine orally and IV
• Monitored fluid intake and output
