My Journey with Smiths Detection started after restructuring of India Business. We set up Procurement and Supply Chain function best practices to support our PAN India Customers in consultation with Global team to streamline and bench mark process adhering to local laws. Set up and managing vendor base PAN India to support
business (Direct Material, Logistics and 3PL, Technical Service Providers, I.T, Projects etc). We had grown from a Purchasing department to support India to an agile Strategic Procurement growth center in last 7 years.

Now we collaborate with regional APAC and Global teams on LCCS requirements and make in India initiatives to lead the manufacturing in India

• Oversaw $47 Million budget and serviced all direct and indirect sourcing needs
• Also Coordinated logistics for $22 Million per year operations
• Devised and executed annual purchasing plans and contracts, including Logistics and Warehousing.
• Sourcing Lead for Automatic Tray Retrieval Systems Lanes Programs for Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad.
• Localized Lane Cladding of ATRS lanes for Bangalore Lanes in India.
• Program Sourcing Lead – India for 8 Container Scanners, 40 Inline Machines. Localization Savings attained 23% over budget ( Saving of $ 19.6 Million)
• Localization/repairing of various spare parts that were previously imported from factories. Thus saving approx. 22% cost of Spares.
• Collaborated with Suppliers, Internal stakeholders and R&D to establish effective Supply chain for Make in India Project (soon to be commenced) within 6 months from the start of project.
• Streamlined portfolio, negotiated payment terms and promoted spending transparency to support cross-disciplinary goals.
  

Time spent with L&T was steep learning curve for me. It was my first-hand experience on Underground Metro. We as a team steered through many challenges and risks to complete project before time. I had learned a lot about Project Procurement, Contract Negotiations,
Vendor management, Logistics and customer management.

• Procurement & Logistics Head for construction of 3 underground Metro stations of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) at ITO, Jama Masjid, Delhi Gate of CC05 Project.
• Maintained cost-effective & timely procurement of bulk material, equipment, consumables, project specific materials, services for $ 35 Million / year.
• Achieved 8.2% savings in over cost estimates in 2015.
• Reduced Scrap generation by introduction of Procurement of customized Cutting and Bending Rebars thus saved 6.8% and rework costs.
• Key Contributor in successfully handing over ITO Metro station to DMRC 3 months before actual handing over date.

Gammon was my introduction in the field of Procurement and Supply Chain.During my stint I mentored about Technical Procurement and Negotiation. Apart from Procurement I also learned about International Logistics and Customs Policy and procedures especially on Export promotion schemes.

• Procurement of Construction equipment, Commercial/ Passenger vehicles and spares with Annual Cost Savings of 6.1%
• Import & export clearance without any demurrage and extra charges of equipment and spares.
• All customs related documentation, interaction with authorities, Consultants, for taking and Closure of E.P.C.G and Advance Licenses thus saving duty of approx $10 Million YOY.
• Re Export of tunnel boring machine from India to Austria after completion of work.
• Import of used equipment from Oman after completion of work.

Working with Hotline was my first exposure to Corporate world. This was also first experience for me to put into practice what I had learned about Industrial Engineering, Production and Quality. As it was a new plant set up, I had learned about all setting up of manufacturing facility, Quality Labs and customer management.

• Shift In-charge of Process Quality Control, Outgoing Quality and QA Lab.
• Achieved reduction in screen rejection from 20% to 9% through quality improvement methods.
• Combined pre-baking and frit seal furnaces thus saving 1 hour on production line and saving 18% fuel (overall).
