Track Alignment Engineer – High-Speed Rail (MAHSR Project) Core Competencies

Experienced Track Alignment Engineer with over 8 years of professional experience in the planning, review, optimization, and implementation of track alignment for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) Project, India's first high-speed rail corridor. Specialized in the design and verification of horizontal and vertical alignments for 320 km/h Shinkansen-standard infrastructure, ensuring compliance with Japanese design standards and operational safety requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Reviewing and optimizing horizontal and vertical track alignments for high-speed railway corridors.
• Evaluating track geometry parameters, including curves, gradients, cant, transition curves, and clearance requirements for 320 km/h operations.
• Reviewing and coordinating General Arrangement Drawings (GADs), ROW drawings, span arrangement drawings, and civil-track interface drawings.
• Coordinating with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Structures, Signalling & Telecommunication (S&T), Rolling Stock, and OHE to resolve alignment interfaces.
• Assessing alignment feasibility considering operational safety, constructability, maintenance requirements, and lifecycle performance.
• Reviewing contractor and consultant design submissions to ensure compliance with project specifications and international high-speed rail standards.
• Identifying and resolving alignment constraints, speed restriction locations, and interface conflicts during design development.
• Supporting the preparation and review of Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals, track standards, inspection procedures, and maintenance documentation.
• Contributing to the development of technical standards and engineering documentation based on Japanese Shinkansen practices.
• Providing technical support during design reviews, stakeholder meetings, and project coordination activities.

• Prepared and reviewed horizontal and vertical track alignment designs for metro rail corridors in accordance with project specifications, engineering standards, and safety requirements.
• Developed alignment models and engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D, ensuring compliance with geometric design criteria and operational requirements.
• Designed and optimized track centerline alignments, curves, gradients, superelevation, and transition curves to achieve safe and efficient train operations.
• Coordinated with civil, viaduct, station, geotechnical, utility, and survey teams to resolve alignment interfaces and design constraints.
• Evaluated survey data, topographical information, and site conditions for alignment development and optimization.
• Prepared General Arrangement Drawings (GADs), alignment plans, longitudinal profiles, and cross-sections for design reviews and approvals.
• Performed track geometry checks, clearance verification, and compliance reviews as per applicable metro rail standards.
• Supported design modifications during construction by providing technical clarifications and resolving alignment-related issues.
• Participated in multidisciplinary design reviews, value engineering exercises, and coordination meetings to optimize project delivery.
• Prepared technical reports, design calculations, quantity estimates, and engineering documentation for client submissions.
• Ensured timely delivery of alignment design packages while maintaining quality, safety, and project schedule requirements.
