Summary

Hello , hope you are doing well. I'm Dr Charan Sankar Sankaranarayanan from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India. I currently have been working as a Junior Resident Doctor in the department of Neurology in PSG multi-specialty hospital, Coimbatore.I had completed my Undergraduate degree at Vinayaka Mission's Kirupananda Variyar Medical College and Hospital, Salem. After the Internship, I was working as a Junior Medical Officer under multiple specialties including Neurology, Spine surgery & Orthopedics and Pediatrics. I have passed the PLAB examinations, had recently been registered with a license to practice under the NHS, and my GMC number is 7905608. I also had underwent a clinical attachment at the Leicester General Hospital for a month where I had attended ward rounds, have clerked the patients, worked under the acute medical unit and it provided an opportunity to understand how the NHS works.
I'm a very calm, sincere and compassionate doctor and I have been taking care of the sick with kindness, empathy and prompt intervention. I abide the Good Medical Practice and i assure to provide the safer and an effective medical treatment for the betterment of the patient's health.

JUNIOR RESIDENT DOCTOR

04.2023 - Current

1) Have been taking care of patients who have suffered from CVA, Parkinsonism, Guillain Barre Syndrome, Meningitis, Encephalopathy, Myelopathies, Radiculopathies, Diabetic Nephropathy, Epilepsy and seizure disorders, Myasthenia, Bell’s palsy, Migraine, ICH, NPH, NMO & MOG spectrum disorders, Trigeminal Neuralgia, etc.

2) Can diagnose patients with Parkinsonism by undertaking adequate history, performing the proper examination and special tests such as a pull back test and device treatment plans depending upon the severity under a senior's guidance.

3) Have been counseling patients having Tension Headache with breathing and meditation techniques and several patients have reported a decline in the frequency of the headache on practicing the techniques, thereby mitigating the need for a constant analgesic support.

4) Have proposed the appropriate management for patients suffering from CVA, Disc prolapses and other radiculopathies .

5) I have a good knowledge on the usage of Botulinum toxin in Neuralgia.

6) Can interpret MRI findings of acute infarcts and haemorrhages and device treatment plans accordingly

7) Had taken care of patients with Guillain Barre Syndrome and patient's with ANA and ANCA related conditions under senior guidance .

8) Have been trained in involving the Multi-disciplinary teams such as Physiotherapist, Speech therapist in patients with hemiplegia, hemiparesis with aphasia .

9) Have observed Several Lumbar puncture for CSF analysis and therapeutic CSF removal in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus .

10)Excelled in using Hospital IT systems such as HSIS,PACS .

11) Have managed patients with Parkinsonism and Parkinson's Plus Syndrome and I have a great exposure and knowledge towards Parkinson's disease.

12) Have controlled blood sugar levels of patients with Insulin, OHAs, dietary and lifestyle advices .

13) Have admitted several patients presenting with symptoms of CVA,GBS, Parkinsonism and have taken care of the discharge summaries of the patients getting discharged under a senior supervision .

15)Have been trained in differentiating between a dissociative pseudo seizure and a seizure and devise treatment plans accordingly .

16)I'm excelled in typing discharge summaries of the admitted Patients.

CLINICAL ATTACHMENT

02.2023 - 02.2023

1)Underwent a clinical attachment for a period of 1 month and it helped me understand how the NHS works.

2)Was guided by the experienced consultants and colleagues who taught me the approach to patient care and team work.

3)1 week of Rheumatology outpatient and follow up clinic, 1 week of Acute Medical Unit and 2 weeks of geriatric ward duty.

4)Have attended ward rounds in the Acute medical Unit and geriatrics war.

5) In the geriatric ward, I have withdrawn blood for blood cultures, Intravenous cannulation, blood samples for investigations and have addressed patient's concerns in the most empathetic way.

6) Have clerked few patients in the Acute medical unit and have helped with taking blood for investigations, ABG, intravenous cannulation and blood cultures.

7) Have taken a seminar on SLE during the attachment, and it was assessed and reviewed by the Consultant.

CLINICAL OBSERVERSHIP

1)Worked as a clinical Observer under a Spine Surgeon and attended several Spine surgeries along with the surgeon.

2)Attended the outpatient clinic and surgery regularly (>20 surgeries )

3)Can interpret various spine and other orthopedic conditions with the help of imaging modalities such as the Xray, CT and MRI under a senior guidance.

4)Inspected , cleaned and dressed up patient’s wound with strict aseptic precautions and optimum care.

5)Had performed a few Spine surgeries involving Screw placement over the cervical spine under the Senior guidance.

6)Had observed various spine surgeries such as Discectomies, Anterior Cervical Disc Fusion.

7)Interpreted various spine and other orthopedic conditions with the help of imaging modalities such as the Xray, CT and MRI under a senior guidance.

8) I also have a good exposure towards Rheumatology, Gout, Osteoarthritis, Spondylarthritis, Road Traffic Accidents, Frozen shoulder, etc.

1)Have managed of children with Intussusception, Bronchitis ,acute asthmatic exacerbation ,Acute diarrheal disease, Gastroenteritis, Febrile convulsions, Leukemia and have provided appropriate treatments with Antibiotics, Anti epileptics, antipyretics, Bronchodilators, etc.

2)Interviewed the children's parent to assess histories, investigate the concerns and complete the physical examinations.
