In this project, we used algal oil as the source product and catalyzed the interaction between it and alcohol using biochar as a catalyst, creating a process known as transesterification, which produces bio-diesel as a substitute for standard diesel fuel for automobiles. A maximum yield of 97.06% was obtained by the transesterification process with a methanol-to-algal ratio of 40%, biochar acting as a nanocatalyst at a rate of 2.5%, a response time of 180 minutes, and a reaction temperature of 50°C.
