Teaching - Description

As a tutor in the department of forensic medicine and toxicology, I taught final-year medical students and interns, focusing on medico-legal topics. Key subjects included 'Drunkenness and Examination of a Drunken Person' and 'Duties of a Medical Practitioner in Cases of Suspected Poisoning.' These topics were designed to provide practical knowledge for real-life medical situations. I prepared structured notes and teaching materials for each session, which were reviewed by the head of department beforehand. My approach was interactive, encouraging students to ask questions and participate in discussions to ensure a clear understanding of the material. Feedback from students was positive, noting that the sessions were practical, clear, and to the point. They appreciated the focus on understanding concepts thoroughly and found the teaching helpful and engaging. Presenting my materials regularly and receiving feedback allowed me to improve my teaching skills further. Being involved in departmental meetings also helped me develop my approach to teaching and share ideas with colleagues. These experiences have improved my ability to explain medical concepts and make them accessible to a diverse group of learners, while supporting their academic and professional growth.

Management And Leadership Experience - Description

As the general secretary of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Students' Union (RIMSSU), I led several large-scale initiatives that involved planning, organizing, and managing resources. These included organizing one of the biggest college festivals in northeast India, a cycle rally to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce air pollution, and a cleanliness drive on Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary with the cleaning team. During the COVID-19 pandemic, I played a key role in arranging quarantine facilities for around 600 students as the state entered lockdown. We also donated funds to the state government’s COVID-19 Relief Fund and organized visits to old age homes and orphanages to offer support. These responsibilities required teamwork, planning, and addressing challenges. I managed logistics and worked with diverse teams to ensure smooth execution of events and initiatives. This role greatly improved my ability to organize tasks, work well with others, and communicate well in different situations. It also gave me a deep sense of satisfaction, as I contributed to a variety of causes while building valuable management and leadership skills that I continue to carry forward in my professional journey.

Team Working - Description

During my internship, I worked as part of a team to manage ward activities. My responsibilities included preparing the patient list for ward rounds and ensuring investigation results were available on time. When colleagues were on leave, I adjusted by starting early to complete additional tasks and maintain the flow of work. As the general secretary of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Students' Union (RIMSSU), I worked with others to organize major events. These included setting up a quarantine facility for 600 students during the COVID-19 lockdown and planning programs such as college festivals, cycle rallies, and cleanliness drives. These activities required planning, task-sharing, and resolving issues as they arose. Through these experiences, I developed a better understanding of working with others towards shared goals. I learned how to organize tasks, adapt to unexpected challenges, and support team members to achieve the desired outcomes. These roles gave me a sense of fulfilment and helped me grow in my ability to work in both clinical and non-clinical environments.
