  • The Principal and Superintendent of NHJ granted me the opportunity to implement a preschool program for the surrounding community of children ages 3-4. The goal of the program was to help prepare parents and their children for an easier transition into Kindergarten. At each session, parents were given a list of activities, rhymes/songs, and resources they could use to practice with their children at home.
  • Key Contributions:
  • Coordinated with preschool teachers from Heritage Christian to develop my preschool program
  • Designed a brochure for the community advertising the program
  • Coordinated program’s locations and times with three local churches
  • Administered informational sessions for parents in the community

  • I was hired into the NHJ Corporation, as a Kindergarten Title teacher following student teaching practicum, supplementing reading instruction tailored to individual student needs. I transitioned into a full time 1st grade teacher in the same corporation and proceeded to teach at numerous instructional levels (1st, 3rd, 5th, All-Inclusive 5th) acquiring a wide range of experience with a broad spectrum of learners.
  • Key Contributions:
  • Consistently recognized for willingness to fulfill positions needed throughout the corporation
  • Piloted a technology program using ‘netbooks’ for the 5th grade. Indian Creek’s 5th grade teaching team collaborated with Edinburgh schools on implementing this program. Attended numerous workshops, which taught new and innovative ways to deliver instruction via latest technology.
  • Member of a commendable 3rd grade staff, scoring high marks on the IREAD3 test with a 99% passing rate
  • Piloted an all-inclusive 5th grade classroom and co-taught with the Special Education Department to deliver effective and tailored instruction to all students with IEP’s.
