As a volunteer with the Quilts of Valor Foundation, I was tasked with the sewing, prepping, and presentation of Quilts for servicemembers touched by war's crude embrace. I first heard about the program through my high school's history club program, and soon after did some research. Coming from a military family, it was very interesting and intriguing to me. I requested 4 quilts for my grandfather, dad, and two uncles, and then the QOV Coordinator for my county invited me to sew with them. I joined a second program at school called "Adopt a Veteran" and thought this would be a perfect opportunity for me to honor my veteran in a special way. I personally sewed, prepped, and presented the quilt to my veteran, and organized it so it could be done publicly at my high school including my History class for all eyes to witness. It was a very humbling and honorable experience, and I am deeply grateful to have been a part of it.
