ECS (Environment control system) Dynamic Modelling, Analysis and Validation

Role: Project Lead

  • Scope of this project is to create or modify, test, and validate an ECS model which replicates actual environment control system on the aircraft.
  • The ECS model is based on the customer requirements and inputs. The model simulation results are helpful to predict performance of the system well ahead of testing and helpful to mitigate risks that might be encountered during actual hardware testing.
  • Model is further improved to match with actual hardware based on test bed results.Once it satisfies the validation criteria, model is released to the customer.

Cabin Pressure and Control System Analysis and Validation

Role: Project Lead

  • Scope of this project is to analyze Cabin Pressure and Control System performance, sizing of CPCS valves (OFV, PRV etc) and validation of the system
  • Receive and analyze the customer Inputs and requirements
  • Guide engineers to carry out the work within budget and scope.

Tech Specialist– Advance Systems Engineer

Honeywell
10.2013 - 10.2017

Integrated Engine Services (IES)

Role: Project Lead

Project is intended to replace the current use of 3rd party solutions for engine trending and diagnostics

  • Project is to develop TFE731 ‘Basic’ Performance Trend Monitoring Algorithms
  • Scope of the task is to calculate the Correction Factors (MCFs) for the family of HTF7k and TFE731 engines
  • These engines show seasonality i.e
  • Their margins are dependent on outside air temperature
  • This study aims to develop adders and scalars to correct the effect of seasonality
  • Engine should show same margins (deterioration) irrespective of the place/temperature where it is being tested or run
  • This helps to properly monitor engine deterioration and take corrective actions at right time

CMEM Model Development

Role: Project Lead

  • Component Map Engine Model (CMEM) is a mathematical representation of a gas turbine engine / APU (Auxiliary Power Unit), built using Simulink
  • CMEM model can be used to perform control law analysis, hardware in the loop simulation, pilot in the loop training, prognostics, and diagnostics, etc
  • The CMEM models were developed using the steady state model in FAST (Fast Accurate Simulation of Gas Turbine engines)
  • CMEM library blocks (for modeling compressors, turbines, combustor, and ducts) were used for converting FAST model into an equivalent CMEM model

Senior Engineer

Honeywell
Bangalore
12.2010 - 10.2013

Production Engine Diagnostics

  • Scope of this project is to monitor the performance trends of production gas turbine engines and APUs. Trends of Engine parameters and parameters outside the control limits and/or specification limits are observed. If the performance deviates, the corrective actions are taken. It ensures to produce the engines within the required specifications. It achieves and maintains the stability of production process

Test Cell Correlation

  • Scope of this project is to identify the problems in production engines. It is accomplished by comparing the engine performance against standard Model (FAST Model) performance for the same operating conditions. The comparison results in Component scalars. The trending of component scalars provides guidance as to which components should be examined. The diagnostics of production engines helps in finding the problem in engine production and ensures to produce the engines within the required specifications.

Production Engine trending systems

  • This project is a process of calibrating the test cells periodically. A standard Engine is exclusively used for the purpose of test cell correlation. The objective is to periodically monitor standard engine's recorded performance across all the test cells. The trending of test data across different test cells and with reference to time is observed. If performance deviates, an effort is launched to determine whether there are any changes in the test cell / measurement system. The periodic calibration of the test cell ensures accurate testing of the engines and measurement of the engine parameters. This reduces the turnaround time caused by misinterpretation of engine test data

Senior Engineer

Quest
Bangalore
07.2008 - 12.2010

Responsible for project scoping, project planning and deliverables quality as a shadow project lead (“STAR POSITION” in QuEST)

  • Worked as competitor engine analyst. The task was to obtain as much information as possible on whole engine attributes for specific competitor engines to build up as complete a picture as possible, produce a thermodynamic performance model and to consider how a competitor engine may fit into a competitor’s family plan. Employed people networking and management skills to secure a tie-up with NAL library, which was critical for the successful completion of tasks at hand.
