Project

An orchestration layer that offers Western Union's front-end (website and mobile app), the capability to build customer experience by integrating downstream systems such as Payments, Risk Management, Pricing, and KYC Engines. This solution supports a comprehensive transaction lifecycle, including customer onboarding, multiple login options, KYC and verification, pricing and FX inquiries, and payment option management. The application facilitates cross-border money transfers for Western Union’s partners via Hosted, API, and webhook integrations. Built on a robust microservices architecture using Java-Spring Boot, Docker, and hosted on an AWS Kubernetes cluster, ensuring scalability and resilience.

Role and Experience

• Lead the architecture and design of solutions for complex business problems, focusing on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Demonstrated strong expertise in migrating projects from legacy or high-cost platforms to modern, cost-efficient platforms, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing expenses.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze user needs, and design effective solutions.
• Utilize expertise in Java, Springboot, AWS, Kubernetes, Microservices, Docker, and other technologies to architect and implement robust and scalable solutions.
• Acted as a primary liaison representing the company to external partners, driving technology agreements, negotiations, and collaborative technology partnerships.
• Spearheaded the integration and customization of technical solutions to meet the specific needs of external partners, ensuring seamless and effective implementation.
• Involved in system design and architecture decisions, bringing a strong problem-solving mindset to the team.
• Designed a new partnership framework, architected Single Sign-On (SSO) and Password-less Sign-On solutions, enhanced API security with OAuth, real-time KYC solutions to streamline collaborations, improve user authentication, secure APIs, and expedite customer verification processes.

Project

A credit/debit card switch application that handles incoming transaction and authorization requests from acquirers and routes them to issuers. This solution supports a range of transaction types, including Credit/Debit Card, NFC-Wallet transactions from merchant POS, websites, ATMs, and other platforms. The application also facilitates the provisioning of DPANs for tokenization, enabling secure transactions through NFC-Wallets such as Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and Google Pay. Utilized ISO-8583 messaging for communication, ensuring compliance and interoperability across payment systems.

Role and Experience

• Actively participated in requirement gathering and analysis, learning to align project objectives with stakeholder needs to facilitate POS, online, and other card transactions between merchants, acquirers, and issuers/banks.
• Gaining hands-on experience in integrating ISO 8583 message-based protocols with third-party payment gateways, acquirers and issuers.
• Assisted in enabling tokenization capabilities for various digital card wallets, including Apple Pay, Android Pay, and Samsung Pay.
• Supported the continuous batch processing system to provide regular data feeds to settlement and data warehouse management systems.
• Contributed to maintaining high-quality standards through rigorous testing and bug fixes, ensuring system reliability and performance.
• Provided production support, addressed business requests, managed configuration updates, and assisted in automating processes to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
