Train Design Engineering Co-op

Alstom
Toronto, ON
05.2023 - Current
  • Sketched and outlined detailed designs for safety critical issues involving water leaks, passenger safety, and for client requested orders including additional using CATIA V5 and Enovia VPM/DMA for the Citadis Spirit product line
  • Prepared detailed reports on design proposals and resolutions and presented redlines, changes, and conformity analyses in Change Control Board Meetings
  • Liaised and resolved issues with OEM Suppliers and manufacturers to improve projected production speeds by 25%
  • Performing calculations and analysis related to structural integrity, kinematic interference, corrosion resistance, etc. to ensure timely delivery of vehicles

Structural and Fabrication Senior Member

Blue Sky Solar Racing
Toronto, ON
11.2021 - 12.2023
  • Prototyped, designed and analyzed different structural components of the car using CATIA 3DX to significantly reduce manufacturing times and costs to compete in the Bridgestone World Solar Challenge
  • Prepared and led the design of the car seat, procuring the materials to make the mould using poly beads, and performing wet layups.
  • Used ANSYS to conduct FEA on the rollcages and top aerobody and used convergence and maximum principal stress to increase Safety Factor by 400%.
  • Automated simulations of chassis load cases using ANSYS journal and Python to optimize usage of composite materials and reduce simulation times by 75%.

Airframe Design Lead

University of Toronto Aerospace Team
Toronto, ON
08.2021 - 06.2023
  • Led a team of 10 students to the design and implement a manufacturing plan to produce a hexacopter airframe called Cyclone using Solidworks, ANSYS, and rapid prototyping that can compete in the Aerial Evolution Association of Canada Competition in May 2023
  • Designed the current landing gear, mainplate mechanism, carbon fibre shell, and other parts using Solidworks and DfM principles to ensure reliability and increase the thrust to weight ratio of the drone to 3:1
  • Tested airframe and iterated on different designs using Solidworks Simulation and flight tests conducted at the University of Toronto Institute for Aerospace studies.
  • Machined, Laser Cut, and 3D printed several parts for mounting motors, landing gear, and the mainplate shell
