- Understanding Pharmaco-Economics of Substance Addiction: An Observational Study, International Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2024. This observational study analyzed the financial burden of substance addiction among 209 participants, predominantly in the 20-25 age group. High prevalence was seen with caffeine (76.6%), alcohol (14.4%), nicotine (12.1%), and cannabis (3.2%). Hospitalisation costs averaged ₹11,000-14,000 per visit across substances, adding to procurement expenses and withdrawal-related challenges. The study concluded that addiction imposes major economic and health burdens, underscoring the need for counselling and preventive measures.
