TITLE: Role of platelet indices as markers of microvascular and macrovascular complications in diabetic patients between the age group 30-70 years in a tertiary care hospital, Chennai, India.
SAMPLE SIZE: 192 cases and 192 controls.
RESULTS:
Assessment of platelet indices in diabetics serves as an important, cost-effective, and valuable method to predict an impending thrombotic state, since diabetes is an an evolving global pandemic which has to be noticed earlier, investigated and treated at an appropriate time and measures to be taken to prevent the complications. The study implies that changes in platelet indices is a prognostic and predictive marker for diagnosis of vascular complications, which is easily identified during routine hematological analysis and should not be missed at any cost in order to prevent patient disabilities and improve wellbeing/ longevity.
