• I am an Experienced nephrologist (with 8 years of experience after completion of specialty training) in a major hospitals in South Mumbai. I have gained exposure and proficiency at managing all aspects of clinical Nephrology and Interventional Nephrology (permanent and temporary dialysis catheter placement, kidney biopsy) at the hospital, wards, emergency department, ICU and outpatient appointments.
• I also manage patients on various forms of Renal Replacement Therapy – Hemodialysis, Peritoneal Dialysis and Kidney transplant.
• I have special interest in Kidney Transplant with Compatible and Incompatible blood groups.
• Teamed with other physicians, specialists and health care providers to provide well-rounded care for complex cases.
• Stayed abreast of advances in treatments, emerging pharmaceutical applications and new diagnostic tools for application in Nephrology.

I worked as a lecturer in the department of nephrology. My work involved taking care of inpatients and outpatients. The inpatient service was busy and involved referrals from various specialties including medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics, oncology and orthopedics.

The Out patient department involved seeing patients from all over maharashtra with complicated renal ailments.

• Thoroughly examined patients and elicited medical history in assessing various conditions of Acute and Chronic Kidney ailments. These included Acute Kidney injury, Glomerular and tubular diseases, Kidney involvement in chronic diseases like diabetes and hypertension, Pediatric renal ailments and Chronic Kidney disease.
• Identified serious conditions and emergency situations in Nephrology and immediately devised plan of management for prompt care.
• Initiated patients on Hemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis. Explained the procedure to patients prior to treatment to ease anxieties and enable compliance.
• Involved in an Active Living donor Kidney transplant unit. This included patients undergoing ABO Compatible and blood group incompatible kidney transplants.
• Involved in Cadaver Kidney transplants coordinated by ZTCC.
• Interventional Nephrology experience included placement of permanent dialysis catheter placement, Temporary dialysis catheter placement and Kidney biopsy.

• Worked with intubated and ventilated patients, monitoring and reporting on conditions to maintain stats within optimal levels.
• Counseled patients and families on treatments and care options, including discharge and home care instructions.

During Residency, I rotated in Mount Sinai, North Central Bronx and the Veterans Affair Hospital in various departments like Internal Medicine, Primary Care, Critical Care unit (surgical and medical), Emergency room, Pain Clinics and Consult services. I also rotated in the department of Nephrology at Albert Einstein School of Medicine, New York.

My work involved taking care of patients in the wards, intensive care unit, coronary care units, telemetry and emergency rooms. I was actively involved in performing procedures, presenting cases in several academic forums of the hospital and teaching the medical students.

Collaboration with other specialties for patient care, Team work, Patient communication and Practice of evidence based Medicine have formed the foundation of my practice.
