Brief description of your duties & responsibilities
I joined MR Bangur Hospital under West Bengal Health Service (WBHS) in 2020 April.
I dedicately started my service and unexepectedly found myself in the midst of an incoming Pandemic which I was trusted with to tackle.
I joined the core Critical Care Unit team at MR Bangur for Covid 19 and started taking care of two Intensive Care Units in the beginning , later becoming a full time Medical Officer in one unit.
I sole handedly took care of Covid 19 patients donning PPE kit in negative pressure ICUs.
I did all necessary procedures like Central Line, Intubation, mechanical ventilation, administration of Bi-pap , HFNOs etc.
I continued my service with West Bengal Health Service and still do at this point serving as a Senior Medical Officer in Critical Care Department at this hospital.
Right now my duties include taking rounds, administrating care to Critically ill patients and monitoring them throughout.
Here at MR Bangur, it being a government set up ICU, we get wide variety of patients ranging from simple hypoxia or hypercapnia due to Obstructive or other lung pathology to patients with rare disorders like Alport's Syndrome.
Another speciality we also tackle here are toxic snake bites as well as various poisoning ranging from organophosphates to other toxic chemicals.
I have been serving this CCU tirelessly since 2020 till date and I have been lucky to have hosted three Critical Care Consolidation Seminars as well as a part of teaching advancements in critical care keeping myself updated with the latest updates of Critical Care.
Our C3 (Critical Care Consolidated) Chief host being me, I have always focused on giving the best and latest knowledge of Critical Care to our supporting hospitals under WBHS in the State as well as other Medical staff from our and other hospitals.
I also currently serve as a Clinical Tutor from time to time providing Basic Life Support courses and other important Critical Care topics to various new upcoming doctors and nursing staff as well as medical technicians from time to time.
I have solely thrombolysed over 50 patients with MI at ICU.
I continue to serve my Critical Care duties at MR Bangur with nearing 42-48 hours a week on current rota.
Some points worth mentioning of my work list are down below :
Brief description of your duties & responsibilities
I also served an attachment with RN Tagore Hospital, Kolkata in the Department of Neurology as a Medical Officer in the ward. My duties & responsibilities included taking rounds, prescribing treatment to patients admitted in Neurology ward and Neuro ICU as well as doing small procedures to serve them. I had a great experience during my tenure in Neurology and also attended patients in Emergency with Neurological condition like stroke, GB syndrome , TIA, Seizure disorder etc. I was lucky to work under one of the best Consultants of Neurology of the city of Kolkata and also supported them with all paper work of wards as well as assisting them with clinical diagnosis due to my already established clinical background & experience .
Particularly what interested me with my job is the learning part of it seeing various patients of Neurological illness and treating them as I am very keen in Neurology & Interventional Neurology as subjects.
I have also did night shifts in the wards and tacked emergencies now and then.
My experience as a safe doctor helped the Department a lot with the betterment of patients admitted there.
Some of the work list descriptions are down below :
Brief description of your duties & responsibilities
At Rabindra Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences I joined as a Critical Care Medical Officer at the ICU serving Intensive & Critical Care Units. I was under supervision of Senior Consultant of Critical Care there. Here my previously learned skills came of much use. I did my duties in ICU as did all procedures including Intubation, mechanical ventilation and Central line in number of hundreds. I also took holistic care of patients overall and managed different range of diseases in their critical most form ranging from simple hypoglycaemia to Traumatic Brain Injury.
I did hear a rota of 48 hours a week, occasionally being posted in High Dependency Unit.
In High Dependency Unit I had to monitor patients over 24 hours and look for signs of any deterioration, if at all. I did morning and evening rounds to my patients and most importantly did counselling of patients and their relatives regarding the patient's condition. I did adopt a unique style of counselling technique here to break bad news and explain pathology to them which was of much use to me in my later PLAB2 exam preparations. My experience in real life helped me a lot to get well prepared for my exams and have a better way of communications to the patients and relatives including the ethical part.
I also here used my ACLS BLS skills to save many lives and resuscitate them and become a well informed doctor. Being a safe & reliable doctor was my highest priority at my job.
Valuing patients life as my own was what I gained as an experience beginning here onwards.
Some key points are mentioned down below :
Brief description of your duties & responsibilities
I joined as a Junior resident at Vardhhaman Mahavir Medical College and Safdarjang Hospital at Neurology Department. During my tenure there I performed all sorts of procedures, including blood tests, administering drugs like Intravenous Immunoglobulins, Lumbar puncture. I tacked cases by myself in a few days of experience like GB Syndrome, ALS, several other Motor Neuron Diseases, Multiple Sclerosis, Strokes, Spinal degeneration, etc. etc. Myasthenia graves were quite common as well as several Cranial Nerve palsies. During the tenure I also handled Out Patient Departments along with my seniors and sometimes small OPDs by myself only. We frequently prescribed dosage to Seizure disorder and Epilepsy cases for maintenance at the OPD. I
I also did night duties solely and tacked Emergency cases like Cardiac arrest there as well as quick referral of patients to Intensive Care Units who were at risk.
Assessing risks were a critical part of my experience over here at this department. I mastered the art of understanding here when it is right to make a call for critically ill patients to be shifted to the High Dependency Unit / Intensive Care Unit.
By doing so I was already good at saving lives at the right time and becoming a safer doctor day by day.
I also learnt procedures like intubation and Central line (CVP Catheter) there which were immensely helpful in becoming for me even a safer and responsible doctor in the future as well.
Brief description of your duties & responsibilities

During this job tenure I have successfully transported many patients with zero error or casualty. In occasions I had to use techniques and instruments like Laryngeal Mask Airway & Ambubag ventilation. I had use of drugs such as sedatives and life saving drugs as well as antiarrythmics to stabilise my patient.
I was under constant supervision of senior team members who helped me initial phase to learn and interpret EKG well and use drugs accordingly, after which I learnt quick enough to be self competent and transport many patients by myself upto distance of 200 Kilometers safely.
