Proposal for Post-doctoral Research
Title of Proposal-“Developing commercially viable nano-biopesticides using local plant extract and their application for the control of biodeterioration of skin and skin-product collections in the museums”.
Summary of proposal: Indian Government is making great efforts to promote and support small and medium enterprises to diversify its economy and promote youngsters to become job creators rather than job seekers. The current proposal is in line with the recent initiative by the Indian government popularly known as “Atmnirbhar Bharat”. The target is the development of indigenous nano-biopesticides and its commercialization. The continuous use of synthetic chemical insecticides causes toxicity to non-target organisms, pest resistance, and environmental pollution around the world. The current proposal is targeting to utilize the advantages of ingenious technology of nano-science in the field of museum and cultural sectors, for the control of biodeterioration, via developing revolutionary innovative nanobiopesticides. The advantage of nanomaterial over the other conventional material is the high surface to volume ratio, ultimately makes them able to act in a more effective way. In addition, the small amount of the nano-pesticide will be sufficient to protect a larger area of the specimen or object material and will remain effective for a longer duration.
