Study on causes of flood in Bengaluru city and remedial measures, Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka, India, experiences recurrent flooding during the monsoon due to urbanization, poor drainage, encroachment, and waste mismanagement. The most effective flood control measure proposed for the project involves the implementation of rainwater harvesting pits specifically in areas that are susceptible to flooding which provides infiltration for water. Further remedial actions include the proper planning and design of the drainage system, the regular desilting of stormwater drains and tanks, and the pre-utilization of drainage water ahead of the rainy season. A patent for the innovative concept utilized in our project was signed.
