Gaurav Johar

An alumni of the prestigious National Defence Academy and Air Force Academy, I was commissioned into the IAF as a fighter pilot in December 1993. In the IAF, I was an operational fighter pilot on MiG-21 and MiG-23 aircrafts with 1700 hours of flying. I have participated in various operations and exercises.

As a fighter pilot in the IAF, underwent rigorous training under high stress conditions and gained in depth knowledge and experience in following skills:-

(a) Operational Flying

(b) Crisis Management

(c) Decision Making

(d) Operational Planning and Execution

(e) Team Work and Coordination

(f) Flight Safety and Operations

During the span of 30 years career in the IAF, I have also undergone a wide array of operational and management courses like Junior Commander, Surface to Air Missile, Electronic Warfare, Flight Safety, Fighter Controller, Defence Services Staff College and Psycologist for Selection of Officers in Defence Forces at Services Selection Boards (SSBs). Appointments at field and Headquarter level have developed and honed my skills in Management, Leadership, Planning, Training, Recruitment, Policy formulation, Procurement and Supervision.
