Worked on an end-to-end Equine Insurance Policy Administration System, supporting horse mortality and specialty coverages.

Key Responsibilities and Contributions:

• Acted as a Functional Subject Matter Expert (SME) for equine insurance products, including mortality, major medical, surgical, and breeding coverages.
• Actively involved in the development and enhancement of the Equine Insurance application, supporting policy lifecycle management and underwriting workflows.
• Gathered and analyzed business requirements from underwriters, product owners, and operations teams for new business, renewals, and policy servicing.
• Worked closely with underwriting teams to configure eligibility rules, coverage limits, deductibles, and exclusions within the system.
• Worked with downstream systems for document publishing and distribution (PDF/PS generation).
• Worked on multiple enhancement user stories, covering UI changes and backend logic across legacy JSP modules, and Spring Boot–based components.
• Performed root cause analysis (RCA) for complex issues and resolved production bugs, ensuring minimal impact to business operations.

• Eligibility Capability: This service is responsible for providing capabilities to determine eligibility for a participant for a given plan. When there is a change in the eligibility date, then a trigger will be sent to the Appian team to update the eligibility date. If there is a fault generated in the eligibility service, then the trigger goes to the Data Exchange (DE) team to update the fault in the batch process.
• Payroll Deferral Capability: This service is responsible for maintaining participants' payroll deferrals (PD) in a given plan. Systematic or participant election changes to an employee's savings rate. PD elections will change within plan rules as a result of participants' elections or PRS-driven events, including validating all PD rules, suspension, auto-conversion to after-tax, reinstatement, and under-saver jobs.

Responsibilities:

• Mainly worked on Eligibility Capability and Payroll Deferral Capability.
• Worked on a web application using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.
• Used Spring JPA to configure the PostgreSQL database.
• Used Swagger UI to test the REST endpoints of the applications.
• Used JIRA to keep track of bugs, to reduce downtime, to increase productivity, and to improve communication.
• Involved in writing unit test cases using JUnit and Mockito.
