Shelf audit imputation project:

An initiative aimed at reducing the custom shelf audit process cycle time from 11 weeks to 4 weeks. Each year, thousands of custom projection files are created to account for sample stores not collected for each category or task. Missing stores are imputed from daughter or sister stores based on store list files.

This project delivered close to $10 million in net savings and took three years to implement due to challenges in aligning upstream and downstream teams. By introducing automation, we significantly reduced cycle time and provided high-quality shelf audit data to clients sooner.

Restatements:

With millions of stores across the U.S., frequent transactions such as closures, new openings, and acquisitions make sales forecasting complex. Weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly extracts and fixes are rolled out per retailer requirements.
Python programming and Excel macros played a vital role in building applications, while strong business knowledge and cross-functional communication ensured smooth execution.

Automation Projects:

• VBA Userform for Supply Chain – Automated tracking of requests and financials for all clients, enabling accurate FTE inflow/outflow calculations.
• US Map Chart in Excel – Developed a dynamic map chart to track county-level mappings, enhanced with macros for projections and geography builds.
• QC Hierarchy Build – Created VBA code to validate hierarchy builds across all retailers.
• Python Store Extraction Tool – Built a tool to extract store data from databases based on outlets and retailer keys.
• Retail Market Area Input Builder – Developed Python scripts to consolidate multiple files from different platforms, reducing a week’s work to hours and handling special cases efficiently.

Key Achievements:

• Contributed to $1.2 billion in company savings through process improvements and automation from my team.
• Traveled to Chicago (2015, 2016, 2017) to lead the Shelf Audit Imputation Project and train new joiners on the process.
