Project name: SA CUP 2021 (organized by ESRA)

Jun 2020 – Present

Project description:

  • For the 2021 SA cup—which is an Intercollegiate International Rocket Engineering Competition held in the USA—my team is building a Sounding Rocket capable of reaching an altitude of 10,000 ft. using a solid rocket motor and returning safely back to the ground using a complex recovery system.
  • My team, Team Sammard, got selected into the competition on its very first attempt and is among the very few teams representing India internationally in the Competition. I am working on the exterior ballistics and stability of the rocket.
  • The team has secured 23rd rank globally, being 4th in Asia-pacific at our very first attempt.

TETHERED PAYLOADCANSAT 2022 | Organized by NASA & AAS

Aug 2021-Present | Virginia Tech

  • ·Built a Can-sized satellite shall consist of a container, which will descend a tethered payload to 10 meters in 20 seconds, while being attached to the container by a 10-meter-long tether.
  • The CanSat will be launched to an altitude ranging from 670 meters to 725 meters above the launch site and deployed near apogee to start descending using a parachute at a rate of 15 m/s, with the payload maintaining the orientation of a video camera pointing in the south direction, 45 degrees downward to assure terrain is in the video.
  • The team has secured worldwide rank of 7th.

Project name: International CANSAT Competition 2021

Aug 2020 – Present

Project description:

  • Working on the mission statement of the 2021 CANSAT competition, organized annually by AAS & NASA.
  • The 2021 CanSat mission will simulate an atmospheric re-entry vehicle which would be launched up to a height ranging 670 – 725 meters from where it had to descend using a parachute stably at a rate of 15m/s till it attained an altitude of 500m from the ground. The CanSat consists of a container and 2 AUTO-ROTATING MAPLE SEED science payloads. At 500 meters, the first auto-rotating maple seed payload will be release which will then, descend down spinning rapidly enough so its descent rate is less than 20m/s. Similarly, as the container reaches 400 meters from the ground, the second payload will be released.
  • TEAM SAMMARD has secured a brilliant position of 13th globally and 7th in Asia-Pacific.

Project name: VORTEX 360- HACKATHON

Project description:

  • Worked on the 2020 Space sector problem statement. We built designs for Mars habitable housings. We had to make it feasible for colonization on Mars to become a reality. We had to cater to the various technologies essential to the existence of life on a planet. -We used FUSION 360 for our modelling.

Project name: CANSAT 2020

Jan 2020 – Mar 2020

Project description:

  • Worked on the mission statement of the 2020 CANSAT competition, and successfully completed the design of a delta wing glider with my team in the span of 1 month.
  • The 2020 CanSat mission was to design a delta wing glider capable of descending down from the container in a helical motion with a radius of 250 meters collecting sensor data for one minute and remain above 100 meters after being released. After which a parachute will deploy to bring down the glider at a rate of 10 m/s.
