Molecular Biology:

  • Experience in basic molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid isolation, molecular cloning, site directed mutagenesis, electrophoresis, western blot, quantitative RT PCR based expression analysis, immunoprecipitation and affinity tagged protein purification
  • Experience in conducting and screening of large protein-protein interaction sets using yeast two hybrid assays

Cell Biology:

  • Culturing and experimentation on bone marrow derived macrophages (BMDMs) and various cell lines (HCT-8, HeLa, RAW 2647, CaCo2, HEK-293T, MCF-7, J774, NIH-3T3)
  • Silencing and over expression of genes using transfection reagents, lentiviral transduction, or nucleofection

Mice handling and enteric infection study models:

  • Well versed in studying enteric infections in mice using oral gavage-based methodologies
  • Dissection and harvesting of organs such as colon, small intestine, MLNs, spleen, liver, and gall bladder
  • Expertise in evaluating and enumerating pathogen load and pathology during enteric infections
  • Colon sectioning, Hematoxylin and Eosin staining for histopathology analysis

Microbiology:

  • Experience in handling microbial cultures including pathogens like E coli, Salmonella Typhimurium and Saccharomyces cerevisae
  • Well versed in bacterial transformations, site directed mutagenesis and protein expression
