OSP Project Engineer

• Serve as an OSP Project Engineer supporting fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and backbone network deployments across Lumos Fiber markets.
• Oversee end-to-end OSP engineering workflows from design review through construction release, ensuring designs are build-ready, compliant, and cost-efficient.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external engineering firms, and construction teams to resolve design conflicts, constructability issues, and field changes.
• Perform detailed QA/QC reviews of OSP design packages, redlines, and as-builts to maintain network integrity and adherence to company standards.
• Support permitting and utility coordination efforts by providing accurate engineering documentation and responding to municipality and utility comments.
• Contribute to schedule adherence and project delivery by proactively identifying risks, scope gaps, and design inconsistencies early in the lifecycle.

• Provide strategic oversight and technical leadership for all OSP (Outside Plant) engineering design initiatives, ensuring design integrity, compliance with Surf Internet and industry standards.
• Manage quality control and engineering reviews across multiple external design firms, coordinating refined, feedback-aligned deliverables to ensure design accuracy and precision across all FTTH and backbone projects.
• Lead and implement engineering initiatives to improve network designs, scalability and cost efficiency.
• Direct and execute Forced Relocation design projects, partnering with local municipalities, DOTs, and utilities to deliver timely, accurate relocation plans with minimal service disruption.
• Oversee grant-funded broadband design initiatives, including NLC (Next Level Connections) and ICP (Indiana Connectivity Program), ensuring all engineering documentation aligns with grant compliance and reporting standards.
• Recently appointed as Lead Engineer for BEAD Grant projects, responsible for technical direction, workflow optimization, and design-to-build alignment across Surf Internet’s multi-state grant-funded network expansions.
• Collaborate closely with construction management, permitting, and project delivery teams to produce high-quality, build-ready OSP design packages that meet project timelines and budget objectives.
• Champion continuous process improvement initiatives within the engineering department, focusing on QA/QC efficiency, data accuracy, and interdepartmental communication.

• As a telecommunications technician with Ericsson, your duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to creating a schedule that is efficient for the T-Mobile Battery Installs Project, manage project-related paperwork by ensuring all necessary materials are current, properly filed and stored, communicating with Project Managers and Construction Managers on best practices and logistics included in certain projects, supplying the Project Managers with closeout packages required for projects, and supervise current projects and coordinate all team members to keep workflow on track.
• Supervised team of four construction workers to maintain productivity and quality of work.

• I was hired at Motive Energy as a “green” guy in the telecommunications industry. I learned very few bad habits and not to cut corners. The department that i was hired into was the Verizon upgrade crew. We would perform upgrades on Verizon cell sites which included AWS to AWS4k, adding PCS LTE, AWS3, 850 and routing a new hybrid cable into a 3315. After a year in the industry i was promoted to a Top Hand position. The top hand would perform on the tower included installing all equipment for the RFDS specifications, safely installing all equipment onto the tower, creating new RF jumpers, taking final photos, assisting with equipment testing on site and also teaching the “green” guy assigned to our crew.
• While working at motive energy i truly learned what it meant to work as a cohesive unit to get the task at hand completed.
