OBJECTIVE AND REASONS
In a country at where the situation is like an undeclared ‘Emergency’ and the freedom of the media is curtailed with a ‘silent assault’, I decided to serve the people as a politician. In the current political scenario, Media could be commonly described as chaotic, polarizing and corrupt under the current central regime. I strongly believe after having an opportunity to be a part of this elite and only political organization, l will serve the best to the society which I couldn’t with Pen. It was with this thought in mind, I entered in the politics. And I did this also because after giving twenty four years of my life with full courage and audacity in a field like journalism, I realized that most of the media houses are being run by the business tycoons who have absolutely surrendered to the existing regime. Being an editor of many dailies of northern India, I personally experienced the heat and pressure to defend government while compromising all the ethics, so finally and reluctantly, I abandoned the profession and joined politics as a founder member of the Aam Adami Party in J&K. I have personally seen that the poor and the weak do not get justice because corruption has taken roots in our veins like termites. By giving an example, I want to clarify my motive for coming into politics. Once a woman came to my office whose husband forced him to abort five times in order to had a son and the doctor who had committed feticide three times out of five was a BJP’s MLA at that time. My objective is quite clear, I want to serve in politics with the same dedication and lines that I did in journalism. For example: During these years, as an editor, I had caught more than a thousand government officers and employees red-handed taking bribes on camera and had exposed scams and irregularities worth Rs 2400 crores. These scams include scams like Jammu Kashmir Police Uniform Scam, Nari Niketan Scam, Cylinder Scam, JAKFED Scam and Cement Society Scam. Notwithstanding, the sad thing is that despite doing the work of Vigilance or Anti-Corruption Bureau, risking mine and my colleagues lives, all those corrupt officers and employees were reinstated within a few months.
