• Mr. Haynes is responsible for the development of cost estimates for design-bid-build mining projects and civil projects typically valued in the $2m to $175m range, as well as pre-construction related services

• Work closely with operations management to develop strategy, evaluate projects for constructability, and value-engineer cost savings
• Understand and evaluate risk as part of the proposal preparation process
• Develop self-performed estimates as well as work closely with subcontractors and suppliers through the bid process to understand and capture the complete scope of the project
• Prepare written and technical proposals
• Summarize the estimate into the accounting budget and turn over to project operations
• Negotiate subcontracts and purchase orders to assure that they are within the project budget
• Has estimated shafts, slopes, tunnels for the mining industry as well as public funded infrastructure projects
• Duties include project analyses to determine most beneficial means and methods, quantity takeoffs, productivity estimation, material sourcing, and proposal writing

As Operations Manager for a mining contractor, I led field operations across a range of surface and underground mining projects, overseeing drilling, blasting, hauling, and material handling activities. I managed a multidisciplinary workforce and worked closely with clients, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure safe, efficient, and contract-compliant execution. My responsibilities included production planning, equipment allocation, crew supervision, and strict adherence to safety and environmental regulations.

I also supported pre-construction and business development efforts through estimating, tender submissions, and operational planning for upcoming projects. • Project included: Excavation and lining of 2,200 feet of slope, excavating 6,000 feet of coal mine development, and excavation and lining of 557 feet of shaft

• As an Estimator–Project Manager for a heavy civil contractor specializing in demolition, underground utilities, and earthwork, I utilized advanced estimating software to develop accurate, detailed, and easily shareable cost proposals for large-scale infrastructure and site development projects. I established a reputation for producing reliable estimates that aligned closely with actual field conditions, earning repeat business and client confidence. I maintained up-to-date cost databases for materials, equipment, and labor specific to heavy civil scopes such as mass grading, trenching, shoring, and structural demolition. • As a Field Engineer and Estimator in commercial construction, I led projects involving schools, correctional facilities, recreational complexes, office buildings, and retail developments across both public and private sectors. I managed construction schedules, permitting, budgeting, contract negotiations, and subcontractor coordination, while also overseeing material procurement and field labor resources to maintain workflow and quality standards.
