  • I taught four 7th grade academic language arts classes and two 7th grade honors language arts classes. I was responsible for 152 language arts students, and I mentored an additional 18 students in an Advisory period.
  • I was the English/Language Arts Department Chairperson where I was responsible for monitoring curriculum implementation of five E/LA teachers, two Special Education teachers, and two ENL teachers. I also managed the department's budget and ordered supplies. I worked with department chairpersons from two other middle schools and the two high schools in order to ensure our curriculum was aligned.
  • I worked with one other E/LA teacher to assimilate language arts classroom and testing data in order to create interventions for other teachers to teach during a building-wide success period.
  • I was part of the positive intervention (PBIS) team, MTSS team, the building safety committee, and the school improvement team. These committees and teams work to make improvements in the building climate to ensure that students get the most out of their learning experience.

  • I was a long-term substitute for a maternity leave. I taught five classes of 9th grade English. During this time, I was responsible for planning and teaching in accordance with the syllabus set forth. I was also responsible for a freshman homeroom class. As a homeroom teacher I would assist students with classwork, scheduling, peer relationships, and any other issues that would arise. During my time I was able to build many strong relationships within the freshman community which allowed me to become a better instructor.
