Provide comprehensive nursing care to clients with cardiovascular diseases, Assess the need of the client, plan the care as per the priority and deliver the client care, Observing physical and emotional condition of client and the progress made and report the same to physician concerned, Carry out the treatment plan as made for the care of clients, Observe the results of the treatment and its outcome, Ensure proper safety measures for the clients, relatives of the clients and the personnel in the unit, Extend immediate nursing care to clients with myocardial infarction, unstable angina, infective endocarditic, cardiomyopathies, congestive cardiac failures, RHD, valvular disease and cardiogenic shocks, Provide care to clients with Cardiac Arrhythmias like Supraventricular Tachycardia, Venticular tachycardia, Ventricular fibrillation. PEA, Bradycardia and Head Block, Care of clients with chest conditions like Interstitial lung diseases, Pnemonia, COPD and other conditions like ARF, CRF, DVT, and so on, Care of clients with Temporary pacemakers, permanent pacemaker Implantation, AICD (automated internal cardiac defibrillator), Intercostal Drainage, Care of clients with tracheostomay and Endotrachaeal Intubations, Emergency management in cardiac arrest, Provides nursing care for clients on ventilators and Intra Aortic Balloon Counter pulsation Pumps, Provide pre and post procedure care for procedures like Angiography, PTCA, PBMVM and renal angiography, Assisting for procedures like intubations and Extubations, CPR, Central Venous catheterization and for diagnostic procedures like Lumbar Puncture, Liver biopsy, Ascitic taping, Thoracocentesis and so on, Care of clients with other medical conditions like Cerebrovascular Accidents, Meningitis, SOL, Hepatic encephalophty, Septic shocks, Blood disorder like thrombocytopenia, Ca Lungs and so on, Preparing clients for CT scans, USG, MRI, Endoscopy, Angiography, Angiplastry, CABG and so on, Meeting elimination needs, provide bladder wash and bowel wash if indicated, Performing nursing procedures like Emergency admission and transfer of clients, administration of medications and IV fluids, Blood collection including ABD,s insertion of peripheral lines, Ryle’s tube and Foley’s catheterization, Meeting nutritional needs of client via nasogastric feeds, jejunostomy feeds and providing total Parenteral nutrition, Meeting client’s psychological needs by providing emotional support to clients and family, meeting spiritual needs and care of the dead and the dying, Maintains stock like Narcotics and other Drugs, Lines Central sterile supplies and so on, Tacking rounds with Doctors and other nursing personnel, Checking working condition of equipments like Ventilators, IABP’s Cardiac monitors, Infusion pumps, Defibrillators, Suction apparatus, Ambu bags, oxygen flows meters and so on, Ensures, cleanliness of the unit, Prepare postoperative bed and set up of unit to receive post op clients, Provide efficient immediate post operative care to patient with CABG, MVR, AVR, TOF correction, Craniotomy, etc, Monitor Hemodynamic status, Arterial Blood Gas, interpret them, and notify the surgeons, Collect blood samples for investigations and perform correction as advised, Assess the effect of Anesthesia and Neurological status of the patient, Administer Narcotic Analgesics and epidural analgesica and IV analgesics as per advice, Check and ensure safety and maintenance of Arterial line, Central Venous line, Swan Ganz catheter, ET tube, Ryle’s tube, Pacing wire, ICD and Foley’s catheter, Monitor strict Intake Output and Drains hourly, Monitor for postoperative complications if any, watch for s/s of cardiac Tamponaed etc, Provide psychological reassurance to client after surgery, Care of clients on CPAP, BIPAP and IABP, Assist clients with chest physiotherapy like deep breathing exercises, Incentive spirometry etc, Train and supervise junior nurses, Ensure cleanliness of unit and SICU, Maintenance of stock and equipments like ventilators, pacemakers, monitors, infusion pumps, suction apparatus etc, Receiving admission of client to wards, Preparing clients for various investigations like CT Scan, MRI’s, Ultrasounds and Endoscopies, Preparing clients for surgical procedures lig CABG, Carniotomy, General surgeries, Performing procedures like I.V. Cannulation, Phlebotomy and blood collections including ABG’s, Ryle’s tube insertion, Foley’s catheterization, Administration of I.V. Medications and fluids, Blood and Blood products and providing TPN, Providing Enteral Nutrition, Providing Basic Life Support in case of emergencies, Providing Discharge Instructions and client Education, Meeting emotional and psychosocial support to clients and relatives, Orientation of the new staff to the unit, Participate in seminars and conferences
