- The Project Ocean Wave is step taken by British Airways to centralize their worldwide operations. This is basically a migration project from mainframe to Oracle 8i.The Client has got around 16 service centers world wide which maintains various transactions in their respective continents. Ocean Wave is a step to new era where all future transactions for these service centers will take place from one single centralized Database placed at London Heathrow. The front-end application to maintain Ocean Wave is written in Java 2, which can be accessed, from anywhere using Internet browser (Based on multi tier technology). The Back-end consists of two oracle Databases, one of them is online approx. 375GB in size, which directly interacts with the front-end applications where as other is used as data warehouse approx. 475 GB in size. Data consistency between these two databases is maintained using periodic replication process, which has scheduled run frequency. The front-end application interacts with databases through middle layer. Use of JDBC is also incorporated with in the application. PVCS (UNIX/NT) is used for Software Configuration Management.
