Light weight concrete made using rice husk ash based pellets
For my final year project, my team and I developed lightweight aggregates by combining rice husk ash, ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS), and cement in a fixed ratio. We used a disc pelletizer to form these materials into pellets, which were then incorporated into various concrete mixes. Our objective was to achieve target strengths of 5, 10, and 15 MPa while maintaining a density of less than 1800 kg/m³, classifying the resulting concrete as lightweight. To evaluate the mechanical and durability properties of the concrete, we conducted several tests, including cube compression tests, Rapid Chloride Penetration Tests (RCPT), and Rapid Chloride Migration Tests (RCMT).
